Position Overview
The Area Director of Sales & Marketing reports to the General Managers, will be a member of the executive teams and responsible for setting a clear direction for all commercial-related groups and activities. The role is primarily concerned with ensuring the hotels commercial success through a combination of solid business development, long-term value creation and driving brand equity. In addition, the position will be responsible for aligning all divisions around one strategic commercial goal. This role is the custodian and strategist for the hotel brands.

As an Area Director of Sales & Marketing at The Beverly Hills Hotel, your compensation will range between $190,000-$220,000.
What you'll do
- Align with a broad market of guests - protect our business by drawing new HNW and UHNW guests to our hotel and widening our global sources of business.
Respond to the fierce competition - be visible and relevant in a global market that will be filled with exceptional hotels
The role will be directly responsible for brand, marketing, communications, catering, competitor insights, strategic business planning, sales, revenue management, pricing, and target market strategies.
The role will also collaborate closely with all members of the executive committees, hotel operations and Dorchester Collection
We are looking for an exceptional leader, who is passionate about the hotels’ commercial success and their development and will be a key member of the hotel executive teams. The ADOSM will be critical in ensuring the alignment and development of each hotel, working to develop strategies that deliver an optimal & balanced business mix, increased market share and financial success.
They must have empathy and an unwavering ability to work across two hotels that both have unique business needs - their vision and initiatives should contribute to the hotels complimenting each other, resulting in a clear brand definition for each property.
The ADOSM purpose is to:
- Set a clear and aligned commercial strategy that drives business growth, acquisition and retention of guests, develops key clients, MLA (must look after) guests, market share and brand equity.
Develop a target market strategy – an end-to-end multi-discipline, cross-departmental strategy that ensures target market customers are in the forefront of mind throughout the eight steps of the customer journey.
Develop loyalty & recognition through a rolling strategy designed to identify, develop, nurture, retain and reactivate our most valuable guests. Measured by the number of active guests, lifetime spend and movement across DC.
Champion a unified and collaborative work environment across divisional departments. Ensuring there is clear communication and alignment across disciplines and between DC and each of the two Los Angeles hotels.
Responsible for the hotel/s sales team. Maximize the overall productivity and effectiveness of the sales organization, define a clear strategy and lead the team to achieve aggressive growth and market share advantage from key clients, partners and territories.
Responsible for the overall F&B commercial strategy. Optimizing the commercial performance of the hotels F&B outlets (the village) ensuring a balanced client mix presenting a variety of options for the target market
Develop a long-term, target market catering strategy that optimizes revenues and positions both hotels as the first choice and most sought after venues in Los Angeles for events and celebrations.
Relentlessly monitor customer & competitor insights. Monitor competitors' performance through multiple channels.
What you'll bring
- University degree level or equivalent, preferably in a related field
Commercial executive level experience
Relevant professional qualifications and certifications.
Experience
- Strong record and minimum of 5 years of accomplishment in commercial leadership roles
A strong level of experience and understanding of the critical commercial functions in the hospitality business. Brand, revenue management, sales, marketing, communications, catering, performance, and customer insights
Has successfully built, scaled and led high-performing teams
Be highly goal-oriented and possess excellent interpersonal & communication skills
Extensive experience in sales and marketing
Experience of successfully repositioning hotels/businesses highly desirable
International experience beneficial
