Full description of the position

We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Sales Assistant and Front Counter Worker to join our team at a small local building material supplier. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting customers in identifying and purchasing the appropriate building materials, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized front counter.

Key Responsibilities:

- Greeting customers as they enter the store and assist them with locating products

- Assisting the Outside Sales reps by preparing quotes and filling orders

- Clearly communicating with the Sales Manager and sales team

- Maintaining a clean and organized store and front counter

- Assisting customers in identifying the appropriate building materials for their projects

- Processing sales transactions and operating the point-of-sale system

- Answering telephone inquiries and providing information regarding product availability and pricing

- Assisting in the pricing, stocking, and display of products

- Providing information to customers regarding the installation, care, and maintenance of building materials

- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of products and their uses

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent qualification preferred

- Previous experience in a similar retail or customer service role

- Familiarity with building materials and their applications

- Excellent customer service skills

- Good communication skills, verbal and written

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask

- Ability to operate a computerized point-of-sale system and basic computer skills

- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended hours

- Availability to work weekends and evenings as needed

Salary and benefits:

The pay for this position is competitive and depends on experience, starting at $16 per hour with plenty of room to grow within our company! We offer a handful of benefits, including employee purchase and 401k along with paid time off.
