Job Purpose:
As a Sales Manager, you will oversee the development, coordination and direction of profitable sales within a specified region. Duties include acting as the leader of your territory by managing a team of sales professionals, implementing and fostering corporate initiatives, maintaining supplier relationships and growing Veritiv’s customer base. This position requires a “take the wheel” approach for the entire sales process along with strong skills for intelligence gathering, prospecting to negotiating and account management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to the team which will contribute to achieving the Territory and Regional objectives.
- Identify opportunities and present solutions offered by the organization that meet the customer’s needs
- Ensure that team members maintain up-to-date customer and inventory data in the CRM and identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Conduct sales meetings, trainings and account/pipeline reviews on a regular basis with sales group.
- Manage and report on team performance, assets (inventory) and budget execution.
- Set appropriate performance objectives for team members and hold them accountable for achieving these.
- Create a personal network and represent the organization at business sector events to enhance the company brand.
- Work with the Credit Manager to ensure accounts receivable are kept current.
- Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures to ensure the team’s and own work adheres to required standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience and knowledge in Packaging is strongly preferred
- Supervise 5-10 direct reports
- 30% travel required
- May be requested to perform other duties as assigned
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of successful sales experience preferably in territory sales or account management.
- Strong understanding or experience from a large, national or decentralized distribution organization preferred.
- 3+ years of experience supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve sales goals.
- Must have strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, people and diplomacy skills required.
- Good interpersonal and conflict management skills required.
- Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM is preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
