Signal Energy’s Vice President of Business Development is accountable for all business development activities, including: identifying target markets and customers, cultivating customer relationships and driving Preferred Selection, and developing short- and medium-term strategies to achieve long-term company goals. The Vice President will drive company profitability and value by judiciously applying business development and other company resources towards markets, clients and projects that best align with Signal Energy strengths, capacity and risk profile.


Reports to: SVP, Business Development & Pre-Construction

Works closely with: Customers, Executive Leadership, Marketing & Communications, Estimating & Planning, Engineering, Procurement, Operations and Affiliates


Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Recruit and develop an elite business development team that embodies Signal Energy’s Core Principles and champions Preferred Selection
  • Oversee market analyses to identify opportunities that achieve customer, revenue and geographic diversity targets
  • Promote targeted customer identification, relationship development and touchpoints to establish a robust pipeline sufficient to meet annual and long-term financial goals
  • Develop and own annual sales forecasts and go-get strategies to achieve long-term financial goals
  • Manage all business development reporting requirements
  • Support completion of customer pre-qualification requests
  • Determine annual participation in industry conferences and customer visits
  • Steward company resources through data driven go / no go decision making
  • Monitor all proposal activities to ensure customer expectations are exceeded and Signal Energy delivers consistent, best in class proposal packages
  • Assist proposal leads in win strategy development and execution
  • Develop appropriate customer peer relationships to track customer satisfaction
  • Support Owner contract negotiations and ensure commercial terms align with company risk profile; step in as necessary to resolve conflicts in a creative and mutually acceptable manner
  • Monitor changes to project requirements to safeguard against material changes to profit or risk
  • Maintain appropriate customer peer touchpoints to track customer satisfaction and de-escalate any potential disputes
