Position Overview:
As a Counter Sales representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and sales support to contractors and professionals in the construction industry. Your primary role will be to assist customers in selecting and purchasing the appropriate products, materials, and supplies for their specific projects. This position requires a strong knowledge of construction materials, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Assistance:
· Greet customers, understand their requirements, and provide knowledgeable assistance in selecting appropriate products.
· Answer customer inquiries regarding product availability, features, pricing, and specifications.
· Provide recommendations and suggest alternative products when necessary.
· Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
Product Knowledge:
· Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's product catalog, including construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new product launches, and technological advancements.
· Provide accurate and detailed information about product features, benefits, and applications to customers.
· Assist customers in locating products within the store and maintaining a well-organized and clean showroom environment.
Sales and Upselling:
· Actively promote sales by identifying customer needs and offering suitable products and solutions.
· Upsell or cross-sell related products and accessories to maximize sales opportunities.
· Provide quotations, negotiate pricing, and process special orders.
· Collaborate with the sales team to achieve sales targets and contribute to the overall success of the store.
Customer Relationship Management:
· Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, and other trade professionals.
· Identify opportunities for customer retention, repeat business, and referrals.
· Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
· Follow up with customers to ensure their satisfaction and provide assistance with any post-sales inquiries or issues.
Inventory Management:
· Monitor stock levels, track product availability, and communicate with the inventory control team to ensure accurate inventory management.
· Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, and merchandising tasks.
· Notify customers of product arrivals, backorders, or delays.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certifications in sales or construction-related fields are a plus.
· Previous experience in a retail sales environment, preferably in the construction or building materials industry.
· Strong knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Proficiency in using computerized point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications.
· Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
