Sales Project Estimator/Fabrication Specialist

Company Summary: Metal distribution and fabrication company in the Joliet area (IL). Small office setting with a supportive team environment.

Job Summary: Experienced project professional with a background in working with customer to prepare CAD drawings, as well as take-offs and all documentation associated with the sales process. Work includes understanding of specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions. It also requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods in metals processing and distribution. Pay starts at $72,800 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a recurring monthly bonus.

Job Functions

• Responsible for transforming initial rough product designs using computer-aided design (CAD) into working documents.
• Prepares lay-outs, drawings and designs according to customer/engineering specifications.
• Performs take off on blueprints/drawings.
• Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation and analyzes designs.
• Retrieves any necessary details to complete drawing, layout or design.
• Create quotes for customers based upon drawing information and verification.
• Prepare sales orders and internal work orders upon receipt of customer approval/purchase order.
• Work with purchasing department throughout the entire sales process to quote pricing and order material needed.
• Assists inside/outside sales reps and/or outlying service centers with CAD inquiries and/or estimating jobs.
• Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
• All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
• AutoCad training and/or experience in the steel industry preferred.
• Basic knowledge of custom processing equipment capabilities required required.
• Ability to read and extract parts from assembly drawings required.
• Knowledge of arithmetic required.
• Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications required.
• Ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive/confidential sales information required.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
• Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers/vendors required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $73,000.00 per year
