Established in 2002, the Thousand Islands Winery® has established itself as a regional landmark in the Thousand Islands region of New York. Thousand Islands Winery® is the largest wine producer in the Thousand Islands and is located in Alexandria Bay, NY. It is a premium wine making facility with production, farming, and wine distribution operations. In 2009, it was named as New York’s “Winery of the Year” by the New York Wine and Grape Foundation.
Thousand Islands Winery® seeks to fill a full-time Outside Sales Representative position on our wholesale sales team. The ideal candidate should live in or around the Hudson Valley area, and have at least three years of past experience as an Outside Sales Representative, employee of a winery or alcohol/wine distributor, or other experience working in the alcoholic beverage industry. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for developing and managing our Hudson Valley sales territory.
Primary Duties:
- Provide outstanding customer service to existing accounts.
- Prospect and close new accounts.
- Make weekly sales calls to assigned accounts.
- Develop an independent strategy to build Thousand Islands Winery® brand portfolio, diversification, and market penetration throughout the assigned sales territory.
- Exhibit discipline and resourcefulness to meet or exceed assigned sales goals.
- Conduct staff training, food and wine pairings, and in-store tastings.
- Work with marketing department to design and create specialized POS material for assigned customers.
- Coordinate territory visits with Thousand Islands Winery; management.
- Accurately maintain inventory.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week as needed to meet sales goals.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Ability to work additional hours as required during peak season (October-December.)
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1-3 years experience in outside sales, customer service, or other industry-related experience
- Strong negotiation and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to manage conflict while maintaining a positive demeanor at all times
- Possess a valid NY driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs without accommodations
- Goal-oriented self-starter able to work with little direct supervision
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Four-year degree in sales, marketing, or business-related field
- Adept at Microsoft Office suite programs
- Passion for wine to include wine regions, varietals, food pairing techniques, and wine making'
The compensation for this position is commission based
