Basic function

The Sales Manager reports to the VP of Revenue of Ruby-Gordon and is responsible for the day-to-day store operations of the Store. Your primary responsibility is to meet the sales plan. You will coach, mentor, and guide the sales and office teams including the protection of store assets. You will look to the VP of Revenue for guidance and interpretation of policies, plans and programs and work effectively with the other team leaders within the Company. Communicate effectively on hot button issues involving sales, store personnel and consumer affairs while devoting significant time to training, leading, and closing sales and promoting teamwork to create a profitable sales environment.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project sales performance to owners and senior management
  • Ongoing development and mentoring of Sales Associates in the areas of sales training, customer service, administrative tasks, operational tasks, computer, and product knowledge
  • Maintain adequate staffing of sales associates to meet organizational goals
  • Develop and utilize incentive programs
  • Oversee daily reports including monitoring and tracking of sales performance measures such as monitoring ups, close rates, average sales, and margins.
  • Assist in all operational profit incentives and customer service coordination to achieve growth goals
  • Aid in the execution of strategic events to insure brand messaging, market awareness and profitability. This includes product markdowns and inventory reconciliation.
  • Communicate store needs to merchandising department based on customer interaction
  • Positive force within the management team and play a creative and strategic role in thinking and planning
  • Uphold company values and enforce company policies and procedures

Skills

  • Understanding and background in sales, recruiting, training and display within the retail and home furnishings industry.
  • Should have a basic knowledge and capability to work with Interior Design Teams that create sales using floor plan concepts, color schemes, fabrics, wallpaper, window treatments, accents, and area rugs.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Home Furnishings product including and a willingness to absorb new product knowledge and details.
  • Proficient in the use of store computer and retail software systems.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs including MS Word and Excel.


Expectation

This is a hands-on role that works towards making certain that the store is fully staffed and that short- term daily and monthly sales goals are met. Maintains the highest levels of service in support of the company mission statement and maintains the company's reputation and standing in the local business community. This includes exceeding customer expectations in quality, service, and value. Build overall team rapport and sell with integrity.
