Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the System Architect in the Office of Technology and Systems Development, CTO.
The Business Process Development team will work with end users to design and maintain all computer systems at DOE. They will provide the overall systems approach on all service requests, develop new system designs, develop system documentation, provide guidance for enhancement requests, support ad hoc reporting, insure compliance with state standards, and provide overall business process knowledge during process improvement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and skill in system development methodology including application development, requirements analysis, systems design, computer programming, systems testing, and documentation.
- Experience with relational databases, Linux and Windows Operating Systems, WEB based development technologies and methodologies including JAVA, JavaScript, HTML, web server, SQL, PL/SQL.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects with minimal direction, developing project scope, estimates of effort.
- Ability to lead project teams including managing and directing multiple developers and other resources.
- Experience evaluating, learning, and implementing leading edge integrated development environments and technologies.
- Comfortable in multi-tasking, switching priorities with little notice, and handling time horizons ranging from immediate software remediation to multi-year projects.
- Experience in project management, supervision or team leadership.
Additional Considerations
College degree in information systems, computer science, or related field or demonstrated progressively responsible experience in developing and maintaining information systems.
