Auburn, ALFull description of the position
Job Description
This position has the potential to easily earn over $100k in your first 12 months. We've seen it done by many people over the last 24 years...This is a sales role that will involve going out to a prospective job when it gets called in. It could be in the middle of the work day or 7 at night. If you want the potential sale (and commission), you'll go when the job gets called in. Read more about the company and the position below.
Who is DEC?:
We are a family-owned and local fire & water restoration company based in Birmingham, AL with satellite offices in Decatur and Montgomery, Alabama. We have been in business since 1999, and we currently employ around 65-70 people between all three locations.
What does DEC do?:
We like to think of ourselves as first responders during catastrophic times. We cleanup and dry residential and commercial buildings after a water damage, sewer backup, or mold has occurred. Before a contractor can come in and start installing new carpet or drywall, someone has to suck up the standing water (or sewage), remove the damaged items, treat the area so mold doesn't grow, and dry the affected rooms....This part is what we refer to as Water Mitigation and/or Mold Remediation. When we complete this stage of the job, which usually takes us 3-4 days, a contractor should be able to follow us up, and put it all back together.
Who are we looking for?:
We are looking for a self-motivated salesperson to cover the Montgomery to Auburn/Opelika area. This is a full-time position, so you must have the ability to work AT LEAST 40 hours a week and be available to go when the phone rings. We are looking for someone that considers themselves a leader and possesses an outgoing, energetic personality. People that are not afraid to talk (about anything) generally do well in this role. Anyone with a background in the restoration industry, insurance, roofing, or HVAC sales would be considered a PLUS.
What is the position?:
This is a full-time sales position for the North Alabama area. Of course, your initial focus would be on learning the ins-and-outs of the services we provide so that you can relay this to a homeowner when the call comes in, but very quickly you will want to move to taking calls on your own. This will be a sales role of actually going to the customer's home or business, in the exact time they need us, and explaining why they would want to use us versus using a competitor. Keep in mind, this is not a cold call. The potential customer has been referred to us typically by another service company, and they're calling because they need our services, so the conversion from lead to sale is typically a very high percentage. The biggest factor to this high percentage is your ability to be there when they need you. The great majority of our work comes in during business hours (8am - 5pm), but sometimes that call comes at night. We have to be ready, willing and able to go service a job at 9am or 9pm. When they need us...is the exact perfect time for us to be there. You would also be expected to be "On-Call" every other weekend. This allows you and the other salesperson in that territory to have some family time without having to worry that one person is getting overworked.
What does it pay?:
We will provide a small starting salary (currently the starting salary is $400/week), vehicle (or monthly vehicle allowance if you already have a nice vehicle), fuel, cell phone, and expense reimbursements to go along with a nice commission structure. The BIG money to be made is in the commission of actually selling the job, so you'll definitely want to go see that customer when they call.
What exactly do you mean by a "Job"? Can you give me an example?
Suppose you've been at work all day and you come home to find your water heater busted and it flooded your kitchen, living room and bedroom. What do you do?
- Most people will call a plumber first.
- The plumber shows up and repairs the problem, but the rooms are still wet.
- He refers you to a company that will come to your home within an hour, start cleaning up the entire mess and more than likely, wind up submitting the bill to your insurance company for the work....He just referred you to DEC.
- You call DEC and ask if they can come immediately to dry out your house.
This same scenario happens for us, on average, about 30-40 times a WEEK across the state. You would be the first one to go to the job, document the loss, sign a contract, create a plan for the drying, and call in the technicians to come do the physical work. Obviously there's more to it than this, but these are the highlights of what this role would entail.
