Senior Manager, Market Strategy & Development

About the role:
As a Senior Manager, Market Strategy & Development, you will combine market development strategies with a keen understanding of global government policy and approval processes to create new compliance and non-compliance market opportunities and drive adoption of IDEXX water testing solutions worldwide.
Working closely with our Government Affairs team, you will develop and implement strategies to build awareness and lay the groundwork for regulatory approvals and standards inclusions for IDEXX Water products around the world.
You will create and implement marketing initiatives to translate regulatory approvals into product adoption.
You will identify attractive new markets for products across the Water portfolio, develop marketing strategies and assets, and collaborate with the regional marketing teams to pursue these commercial opportunities.
This is hybrid role, with two days per week on-site in Westbrook, Maine.
What you will do:
Design and implement market development/marketing strategies
Create and grow relationships and partnerships with industry opinion leaders, intermediary companies, academics, and industry groups to support growth of the water business.
Develop and deliver persuasive technical content through conference presentations, webinars, journal articles, etc.
Utilize strategic marketing tools to support Water Line of Business policy/advocacy initiatives
Ensure regional teams take advantage of Line of Business knowledge and assets and support them with specialized marketing content
Identify, research, and develop plans to address high-value new market opportunities
Monitor and help respond to policy, competitive and other relevant developments in key commercial markets worldwide
As needed, support partner organizations with messaging to their customers and stakeholders
Guide IDEXX involvement in strategic 3rd party studies which support Water market development efforts
Manage, mentor, train and coach others,
Set and manage direct expense budgets
Perform other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:
Strategic Planning/Strategic Marketing/Market Development expertise
Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage key opinion leader and/or business development relationships
Understanding of market and customer research processes
Familiarity with policy, advocacy and/or regulatory work
Demonstrated initiative and entrepreneurial spirit
Ability to manage strategy and details concurrently
Strong problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate and resolve issues
Ability to prioritize, maintain focus, and manage multiple projects
Comfort working with highly technical/scientific content
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Advanced presentation skills; ability to present and explain complex information to all audiences
Excellent leadership and interpersonal and team building skills
Proven ability to collaborate and work in and lead teams which are highly matrixed, cross functional, technical and often global. Ability to lead small, focused teams -- progressing to the recognized ability to lead, energize and mentor larger, more complex teams and global programs.
Financial acumen and budget management experience
Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. MBA or equivalent experience preferred
Experience in strategy work preferred (management consulting, corporate strategy, or similar)
Global experience and a second language are preferred
Government affairs experience a plus
Microbiology or biology background is a plus
