Job Title: Sales Development Representative

Location: New York City, New York

Reports to: Sr. Director Smart City Partnerships & Public Policy

Department Name: Smart City & Policy

Position Type: Full Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000 (Actual compensation is commensurate with job related knowledge, skills, experience, etc.)

Overview

This role is for a New York City based position on the RUBICONSmartCity team. RUBICONSmartCity is a technology suite that helps local governments and private companies run more efficient, effective, and sustainable operations. A software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering designed for fleet vehicles – solid waste, snowplows, street sweepers, etc. – this full-service solution can be deployed across virtually any fleet to help reduce costs, improve service, and contribute to an enhanced quality of life for citizens.

RUBICONSmartCity sells to Local Government Agencies, Government Contractors, and Commercial Businesses. As a Sales Development Representative, you will generate new business by selling RUBICONSmartCity and its associated products to local governments and private hauling, sweeping, and plowing companies in the United States and Canada. You will conduct outreach to prospective customers through cold calling and cold emailing, serving as Rubicon's first point of contact. You will carry a sales target and work closely with a Partnerships Manager to ensure success. You will contribute to the Smart City Team's business growth in a fast-paced, collaborative, and fun atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business pipeline through prospecting outbound & inbound opportunities through cold calling and cold emailing
  • Collaborate with Partnership Managers to execute a go-to-market strategy in your assigned territory
  • Support sales enablement initiatives to create broad awareness across RUBICONSmartCity partners
  • Maintain accurate and timely customer, pipeline, and forecast data working within Salesforce
  • Develop the foundation for a successful career in software sales

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • One to three years of professional sales experience
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility as part of an ever-growing sales organization
  • Maintain a high volume of strategic outreach in your territory
  • Research and understand various lines of business and personas
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Motivation, drive, and a self-starting attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening to understand customer needs
  • Ability to multi-task, take initiative, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation skills via phone, online and in person
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Ability to explain complex, technical concepts in plain language, using diagrams or screenshots to help illustrate details as necessary
  • Previous experience in government, public services, fleet operations, or familiarity with waste operations is a plus
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating complex municipal contracts is a plus
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g. Salesforce) is a plus
