Full description of the position

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for managing a team of experienced Account Managers and Brokers representing SCT stock and custom catalog and targeted key accounts in the region. This includes coaching, assisting, development, and training of Account Managers and Brokers, in an effort to increase territory sales, convert new business accounts, while growing existing accounts revenue and profit.


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Manages and leads team to ensure annual budgeting requirements are met
  • Successfully manage team to achieve growth, hit sales targets, and meet overall annual budgeting requirements for territory
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a strategic business plan for sales that aligns with SCT’s overall business strategy
  • Own recruiting, onboard training, objectives setting, coaching, and performance monitoring of Account Managers
  • Utilize sales reporting tools to assist in development of realistic forecasts for production planning purposes
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop new catalog products
  • Assist team members with custom product ideation and solutions
  • Set a good example for the team, acting in accordance with company culture and values, prioritize effectively, use good communication, and deliver results efficiently
  • Reinforce positive relationships with prospective and existing customers
  • Remain current with product and industry market trends
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and complaints regarding sales and service in a way that honors the customer and aligns with SCT’s mission, vision, and core values
  • Communicate and manage sales directives and pipeline target accounts for each Account Manager
  • Assist with development and management of contracts and agreements for customers
  • Assist Account Managers and Brokers in sales presentations and tradeshows to promote SCT products
  • Assist team with conflict resolution with sales and services
  • Submit quarterly and weekly reports as well as periodic expense reports
  • Submit timely sales updates which consist of sales dollars, contribution margin dollars, and percentages
  • Strong work ethic with an understanding of and adherence to SCT’s core values in all business decisions and interactions
  • Maintain company vehicle, if provided, communicate any maintenance needs and have performed when necessary


QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Five years’ sales management experience preferred. Sales experience with foodservice distribution, as well as regional and national chain foodservice accounts. Excellent relationship building skills, skilled at building rapport, opening doors, and understanding business requirements of customers at all levels. Strong analytical skills/logical reasoning ability, using data-driven reports to facilitate sales growth, provide forecasts to production planning teams, etc. Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask well, paying close attention to detail and effectively manage time, independent thinker/worker with strong initiative to lead/manage multiple projects under minimal supervision. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills and willingness to travel. Working knowledge of JD Edwards Enterprise One is a plus. Proficient in MS Office applications - Word, Outlook, Excel software. Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field preferably with sales experience in packaging and/or distribution.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must have the ability to read, understand, and communicate to others the meaning of complex documents including legal documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, and communicate in English.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read measurements. Use formulas to calculate and analyze data.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with arms and hands. Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds. A person must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with any applicable breaks during day) on a regular basis. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team member successfully performing the essential functions of this job.
