Full description of the position

Resco is a privately owned company with headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Resco was founded in 1946 with a goal of becoming a leader in the specialty/monolithic refractories industry and has grown to become an innovative leader in the refractory industry with 14 plants plants located in six states and three countries. Our goal: become THE preferred vendor in the refractory industry.

We are currently hiring Industrial Sales Representatives for territories in the Mid West.

The Role:

The position of Industrial Sales Representative will report to the Regional Sales Manager and will be responsible for making customer sales calls to develop and maintain existing business at his/her accounts. The Industrial Sales Representative will develop quotations, coordinate joint sales calls with Resco technical staff, order customer product, and maintain inventory levels at the customer location and Resco plants. The Industrial Sales Representative may be responsible for technical service representatives who would report to him/her and coordinate the service coverage required at customer locations.

The Sales Representative must also act as a problem solver, work with customer to solve their refractory problems and strive for continuous improvement in refractory performance. He/she will interact with their regional manager, customer base, iron and steel technical staff, customer service representative and Resco service personnel.

Responsibilities:

Maintain current business and develop new profitable business.
Maintain and develop customer relationships as a representative of Resco.
Develop quotations.
Develop weekly and three month sales outlook for their territory.
Front line for customer complaint process, initiate complaint form and work for resolution of the complaint.
Responsible for ordering and maintaining sufficient inventories to cover customer needs without building unnecessary inventory at the plants, consignment sites or warehouses.
Monitor customer payments and payment tendencies; when problems arise, must get involved and help resolve payment issues.
Coordinate service coverage for installations, product trials, etc.
Monitor refractory performance, and collect customer operation data and correlate performance to operating variables.
Interact with technical staff to provide alternate and new products to meet the customer demands.

The Current Team:
The current sales team is made up of the Vice President of Sales, General Manager, Regional Sales Managers, and numerous Sales Representatives covering the US. In addition we have a technical support staff specializing in certain market segments.

Resource Profile:

The Industrial Sales Representative is a strategic role and key in Resco’s growth and profitability. This individual must be capable of being very hands on, digging into the details, problem solving and have good interpersonal skills. This role requires the ability to multi-task and execute against both individual projects as well as broader strategic initiatives.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required.
Engineering degree preferred.
Must be self-motivated
Must be results-oriented and demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Must possess good problem solving abilities.
Excellent project management skills including successful leadership of projects from planning phase through completion.
Must possess innovative leadership, communication, delivery, consultative, partnership, and team building skills.
Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills
