THE ROLE

Legends Global Sales is searching for a General Manager for The United State Football League (USFL) in Memphis, Tennessee. The USFL is an American football league, owned by FOX Sports, that will deliver high-quality, innovative professional football played in the spring and early summer. There will be eight teams in the new USFL, split into two divisions. Each team will play a 10-game schedule followed by 4-team semifinals and a championship game. FOX Sports is an official broadcast partner of the USFL and will air games on a weekly basis. As part of this league, Legends has been hired to oversee and manage various development and sales & revenue aspects. This oversight includes the successful ticket sales campaigns in each of the USFL “hub” markets.

The General Manager is primarily responsible for developing sales initiatives and selling a full menu of Season Ticket, Partial Plan, Group and Premium ticket sales for the USFL on behalf of the teams located in your specific market hub. As the General Manager, you will develop, execute, and generate sales for your specific market hub for the USFL. You will be responsible for tactical initiatives that drive organizational results and generating sales to meet or exceed goals. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to become a trusted partner and advisor, have an ability to understand the marketplace, develop roots within and drive ticket sales through an outbound effort. This team member will also have responsibilities and lead a fulfillment team on all USFL gamedays. This position will be situated within the specific USFL marketplace hub and work day-to-day with USFL management but will report to the Vice President of Global Sales with Legends. The role requires the individual to be in Memphis but can be locally remote throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with senior management to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to developing and executing successful sales campaigns.
  • Drive game day attendance through developing and implementing a ticket sales business plan with strategies that emphasize the sale and retention of season tickets, group tickets, premium hospitality, and single game tickets.
  • Maintain a high level of outbound call and email activity to prospective buyers.
  • This position will also focus on prospecting, appointment setting, executing face-to-face sales presentations.
  • Creative prospecting efforts required to secure potential new clients.
  • Execute and lead sales presentations, both on site at and off site at prospect locations.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing and future clients to grow prospect pool and increase selling opportunities.
  • Entertain clients and prospects at home games.
  • Utilizes company CRM system to manage accounts, pipelines, sales process, and activity
  • Exceed individual sales goals and activity level requirements (calls and appointments), appointment goals, closed sales and revenue goals.
  • Due to the nature of this project, the candidate must be willing to work non-traditional hours, weekends and game days.
  • Candidate should possess an optimistic team-first attitude, as well as the competitive desire to be the best.
  • Candidate should possess both the personal and professional communication skills to interface with all levels of a company, both internally and externally.
  • The role will be a critical part of the USFL team and be the lead for all local market ticket efforts.
  • Participate in events, promotions, client entertainment and other activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Candidate must have a strong work ethic and a desire to build a career in professional sports
  • Highly motivated self-starter, with strategic thinking and personal leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment and effectively influence and communicate with c-level clients
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively with prospects, customers and internal team
  • Candidate should possess excellent time management and organizational skills
  • A passion for sports and selling
  • 5+ years previous sales and ticket strategy experience
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing successful ticket selling campaigns
  • Outstanding communication and people skills
  • Ability to work scheduled hours including evenings, weekends and select holidays during the USFL season
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including event coverage, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation with ability to travel to offsite client meetings/presentations
