Full description of the position

Basic Job Functions:

Responsible to strategize, lead, and co-coordinate execution of Global Sourcing Strategy to support various new supplier & product introduction testing, feasibility, qualification support & rollouts globally and ensure it meets the schedule and metrics defined. In this role, the person is expected to collaborate closely with global stakeholders. This role will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement within the supply chain to ensure complete execution of a lean, integrated and cost advantaged Integrated Supply Chain.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with greater than 8 years of experience in manufacturing setting or Master’s Degree, or PhD in an engineering or similar technical discipline with 4-6 years of experience in manufacturing setting.
  • Recommended Degree in any of the following fields – Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Chemistry, Chemical, Materials Science or Applied Physics.
  • Technical work experience in Project Management with prior engagement in new supplier & product introduction testing, feasibility, qualification & continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent ability to interact with all levels of associates and management throughout the organization.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Understands and demonstrates advanced project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to close projects on time with a minimal level of supervision.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong passion for root cause investigation, identification, and permanent corrective action, implementation, and validation ability to accurately communicate performance metrics and continuous improvement expectations to the supply base.
  • Deploy tools, processes, and training needed to deploy the Standard Implementation Framework, Lead Projects, mentor and coach other sites and locations, as required, either as a implementation site or in preparation for eventual implementation with a focus on pre-implementation foundational work.
  • Possess leadership skills to lead and manage projects, which require candidates to work independently with minimum supervision, exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving to deliver to commitment.
  • Demonstrated passion towards networking, innovation and risk-taking in order to achieve outstanding results.
  • Ability to do benchmarking, data analysis, and risk management techniques to solve problems.
  • Well versed in manufacturing system and process design skills.
  • Apply advanced supplier &/or material development planning tools to drive the successful qualification of new suppliers and products. Work with the development, manufacturing, product, and process engineering teams to perform process interaction analysis utilizing the FMEA approach. Work with Integrated Supply Chain and Engineering to ensure that specifications are clearly defined and effectively communicated to suppliers. Act independently to drive supplier to identification of true root cause of non-conformances using analytical tools and processes and ensure proper permanent corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Share knowledge with other teams across First Solar for support and continued update of latest lean culture enhancements/updates utilizing benchmarking efforts to lead development of 'Best-in-Class' operational practices.
  • Independently drive supplier development and continuous improvement in the suppliers' processes and controls, focusing on the application of failure mode analysis, process monitoring and SPC methods.
  • Support the development of performance metrics which drive department improvement.
  • Drive standardization and consistency of approach as we implement a lean culture throughout Integrated Supply Chain.

Reporting Relationships:

  • This position will not have direct reports.
  • This position will report to the Supplier Development Lead

Travel:

  • Minimal Travel is required.

Estimated Annual Salary Range:

  • $74,000 - $103,000 Annual Salary Range

US Physical Requirements:

  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
