About Great Day Improvements, LLC
The Senior Product Development Manager is responsible for all end-to-end tasks in bringing products to market with a focus on the home improvement sector. These tasks include leading cross functional teams including marketing, engineering, manufacturing, cost accounting, procurement, sales and service. Responsible for the product from ideation to delivery and item retirement.
There are four categories of development:
- Current Products - Review and confirm that the Great Day products will comply with codes and regulations for a new geographical area and maintain compliance with future code/regulation changes in current markets. If the product does not conform, this position will determine what modifications are needed and then work with the cross functional team to develop time/cost/opportunity analysis to determine if entering the new geography is feasible. Drive the testing as needed.
- Requested Field Changes – This position will be the center point for all field related product change requests. The Product Manager will determine in concert with guidance from manufacturing, engineering and cost accounting if the requested modification is doable and at what selling price.
- Product Rationalization – Working very closely with manufacturing, procurement, and engineering, the Product Manager will review the existing product offering and determine if there are ways to improve efficiency, decrease total cost to produce, simplify the product offering through usage of common components or SKUs. Once a recommendation is created, this information will be reviewed with cost accounting and marketing for impact to selling materials and pricing.
- Product Innovation – Once the above three categories are well in hand, the Product Manager will start working on innovation to support the current portfolio. This could range from aesthetic changes to functional changes to IP protectable options.
In addition to the above the Product Manager will assist with competitive market analysis, provide product expertise, reviewing product specifications and marketing materials, alongside product engineer, develop and adhere to cost targets. developing packaging and merchandising to protect products, drive sales and promote our brands during the installation process. Defining white space opportunity within the market. Responsibilities also include internal team members training and product support training.

- The position is the cornerstone in developing and delivering new product programs within specified quality and price targets for product lines
- Directly responsible for the creation of the project plan and flawless execution / delivery
- Manage multiple product categories at one time
- Ability to perform and/or direct the following tasks: Competitive analysis, product ideation, project management, pricing recommendations, sample review
- Serve the various product needs as identified by Great Day and our family of brands
- Attend key meetings with internal and external partners
- Lead the team as it relates to our ability to deliver quality products through improved procedures, relationships and communication
- Holding weekly cross-functional meeting with team members
- Work alongside product engineers ensuring all products meet regulatory / quality standards
- Must complete projects within specified timelines, ability to create Timing and Action calendars to stay organized and on time
Qualifications:
A college degree or equivalent product and business experience with minimum 5-7 years relevant product management experience- Experience successfully launching, reviving and rationalizing home improvement product lines with an understanding of brand equity and consumer insight.
- Consumer product hard goods background with market awareness of styles and trends
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Proficient in Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to travel domestically at least 25% of the time
- Familiarity with small-scale home improvement a plus but not required
- Other required skills and abilities
