FP Goodwin, Co. is a food distributor based in Portland, Maine. We are a fourth-generation company, with decades of combined retail, distribution, operations and food experience. While our core business sources, sells and delivers products from Maine, we also distribute products produced throughout the entirety of the New England region. In addition we perform Direct Store Delivery (DSD) for one national brand. By pooling products that are going in the same direction and offering customer maintenance, we can provide entry to the marketplace for small farms, producers, and wholesalers. We work tirelessly to provide timely, impeccable service at every touchpoint along the supply chain.

For the most part, our staff works independently and physically separate from one another with mostly calls, texts and emails as methods of communication. For this specific position, the vast majority of the time is spent working at our location at 987 Riverside Street in Portland, Maine. Some local travel (in a company vehicle) will be necessary during the work day.

Position Title: Operations Assistant
Status: Full Time - W2 - day shift - any five consecutive days per week
Work Location: 987 Riverside Street Portland, ME and on the road
Reports to: Owner
Salary: $24 per hour - weekly pay schedule - eligible for overtime
Benefits: Monthly stipend towards employee self-purchase of benefits.
Vacation: 5 days during the first year; 10 days years two through four; 15 days years five and beyond.

FP Goodwin, Co. Sales and Operations Assistant
Position Overview:
Reporting to the owner, and working in conjunction with the outside sales team, delivery drivers, warehouse specialist and HR manager, this role performs a variety of operational and sales activities as they relate to distributing and selling our products to existing customers.

To be successful in this role, you will meet, if not exceed, all goals set forth by the owner in a professional, timely and accurate manner, build positive working relationships with coworkers, retailers, food producers and vendors in a manner that embodies the FP Goodwin, Co. brand. The ability to thrive in a small business environment is essential.

This role is specifically responsible for:
Sales support: 75%

- Contacting our current customers on a predetermined regular basis to provide information about our products, services and to place orders.

- Owner of [please apply online] [please apply online] accounts.

- Creating invoices in QuickBooks as needed

- Responding to inbound inquiries about product availability, pricing and/or billing.

- Maintaining accurate and thorough records of communications with our accounts.

- Maintaining contact information (names, addresses, emails, etc.) for all of our accounts.

- Supporting the sales team with inbound questions, comments and/or concerns from our accounts.

- Supporting the sales, delivery and warehouse teams by proactively communicating with accounts when there are any issues with deliveries.

- Contacting accounts to place orders.

- Spend one day per week writing orders in the field.

Warehouse operations support: 25%

- Supporting the delivery team by making or arranging deliveries to our accounts and/or picking up products from food producers.

- Assisting the Warehouse Specialist in maintaining an accurate physical inventory in our warehouse using QuickBooks; cycle counting as needed.

- Assisting with compiling and submitting statements to our DSD partners.

- Arranging for freight deliveries between our two distribution facilities.

- Arranging for courier deliveries from our warehouse directly to our accounts.

Job requirements:

- Professional demeanor in all forms of communication with all vendors, retailers, food producers and customers.

- Superior verbal and written communication, organization and time management.

- Superior attention to detail.

Minimum qualifications:

- High School Diploma or GED.

- At least 1 year of experience with food-specific sales, operations and/or management.

- Familiarity with QuickBooks.

- Familiarity with Google Suite (including, but not limited to, Forms, Drive, and Calendar).

- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Familiarity with app-based forms of communication.

- Familiarity with app-based project management software.

- Ability to pass DMV and Level 1 background checks.

Our ideal candidate will have all of the above plus any of the following:

- Associates degree (any field).

- Knowledge of and a passion for food systems in Maine and New England.
