The Corporate Relationship Manager is responsible for building, cultivating, and strengthening a portfolio of philanthropic corporate sponsors and donors in support of the organization’s mission. Through best practices in relationship management, this role is essential to growing the donor pipeline and providing increased levels of support for both existing and expansionary programs.
This position involves collaboration with internal stakeholders and the creation of partnership opportunities in alignment with the organization’s goals with the purpose of raising funds for general operating support, project funding, and events.
Responsibilities:
- Build a pipeline of corporate partners, cultivating those already in our network with an approach focused on strong relationships. Own and steward a portfolio of partners with accountability to annual renewals and corporate fundraising goals.
- With VP, develop a corporate solicitation plan for each fundraising event in the year ahead, including a moves management plan.
- Create proposals for partners with multiple event and program sponsorship potential.
- Create a corporate membership program as a tool to onboard new corporate partners.
- Maintain relationship records in donor database, and sponsor details in Sponsorship Tracker.
- Work with Marketing Dept. to ensure sponsorship fulfillment.
- Work with Volunteer Dept. to share corporate volunteer activity. Cultivate relationships by greeting corporate volunteers, and work to create funding opportunities with new companies.
Qualifications:
- Ability to set priorities, manage multiple relationships and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong relationship skills and professionalism.
- Patient, enthusiastic, kind, and compassionate when working with both animals and people.
- Commitment to the overall mission of Michigan Humane.
Acquired Knowledge:
- Knowledge of metro Detroit and Michigan corporations.
- Associate degree in marketing, communications or nonprofit management preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years relationship management experience with a nonprofit, membership or trade association.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, Internet and computer software skills are required.
- Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising software experience preferred.
