Full description of the position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Capture Manager to join our organization. As a Capture Manager, you will be responsible for leading the capture process for strategic opportunities within the State, Local, and Education (SLED) and Department of Defense (DoD) sectors. Your role will involve developing capture strategies, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful pursuit of business opportunities. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of SLED and DoD procurement processes, and a proven track record of winning complex deals. Responsibilities:

  • Develop Capture Strategies: Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and assess potential SLED and DoD opportunities. Develop comprehensive capture strategies aligned with organizational goals, market trends, and customer requirements.
  • Opportunity Identification: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify potential business opportunities within the SLED and DoD sectors. Monitor government procurement portals, industry news, and networking channels to stay informed about upcoming contracts and solicitations.
  • Proposal Management: Lead the preparation and submission of winning proposals, ensuring compliance with SLED and DoD requirements. Coordinate cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, technical staff, and proposal writers, to develop high-quality and compelling proposals.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the SLED and DoD sectors, including government agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners. Leverage these relationships to gain insights into customer needs, shape requirements, and enhance our competitive advantage.
  • Capture Team Leadership: Form and lead cross-functional capture teams, providing guidance, direction, and support throughout the capture process. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, promoting effective communication, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential challenges and obstacles during the capture process. Identify and address gaps in capabilities, resources, or technical expertise required to successfully pursue and win opportunities.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Gather and analyze intelligence on competitor activities, including their strategies, strengths, weaknesses, and pricing models. Use this information to develop effective positioning and win strategies.
  • Performance Tracking: Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of capture activities. Monitor and report on progress throughout the capture lifecycle, providing regular updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Engineering, or related discipline). Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Capture Manager, Business Development Manager, or similar role within the SLED and DoD sectors.
  • Strong understanding of SLED and DoD procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in capturing and winning multi-million-dollar contracts in the SLED and/or DoD markets.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive collaboration and achieve results in a matrixed environment.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to assess risks, identify opportunities, and develop winning strategies.
  • Knowledge of relevant technologies, trends, and market dynamics within the SLED and DoD sectors.
  • Active security clearance (or ability to obtain one) is highly desirable.

The anticipated starting pay for this position has a range of $100,000.00 to $140,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and industry experience.
