Under the general direction of the Branch Manager, your primary responsibility is to build and expand customer relationships with perspective new account customers and existing customers using the Principals of Developing Exceptional Relationships as your guide. As a Customer Service Representative I, you will contribute to the sales growth of the office and ultimately the Bank.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

As a Customer Service Representative I, you will build lifelong banking relationships with customers. You will acquire and expand new relationships through customer rapport building efforts.

1. Expected to greet all customers and facilitate a welcoming and customer focused environment using the Principals of Exceptional Service. Greets customers by shaking their hand upon initial introductions, while showing a genuine interest in meeting their needs

2. Engages in conversations using rapport building efforts and cross sales skills to understand customer needs and financial goals

3. Proactively communicates the benefits of products and services through determining customer needs through rapport building efforts such as; the bank’s Checking Advantage and Neighbor-to-Neighbor programs including, BaZing and other companion services and accounts

4. Consistently seeks to expand customer relationships by using reports and navigator system to educate customer about other product and service opportunities

5. Routinely checks to see that customers in lobby area receive prompt attention. Recognizes customers who are waiting when the bank is crowded and assures them that they are not over-looked. Offers refreshments if necessary.

6. Able to cultivate customer relationships over the telephone as well in person using the Principals of Building Customer Relationships as your guide.

7. Proactively contacts and follows up with customers through telephone calls and letters in order to build and enhance customer relationships. Participates in special marketing campaigns and letter solicitations for new business.

8. Researches and resolves customer problems, acting as the customer liaison between other bank departments when necessary; e-banking services, stop payments, wire transfers, inquiries about ATM and debit card usage and limits.

9. Able to assist with Reg. E disputes including the completion of all necessary documents. Understands Regulation CC and knows when to place a hold on a deposit if necessary.

10. Refers customers to other bank departments such as lending and trust through cross sale efforts.

11. Contacts customers to obtain necessary signatures on documents with missing signatures Performs computer file maintenance and ensures accuracy of file maintenance by timely follow up and verifications.

12. Admits customers to safe deposit vault area following security and vault entry procedures.

13. Is able to open and close the branch in the absence of a supervisor and understands branch security requirements.

14. Serves as a role model in all aspects of position and provides general guidance to others within the branch office in the absence of supervisor.

15. During absences and peak periods, is able to assist with teller coverage and must be proficient in all teller responsibilities including performing supervisor overrides for Tellers.

16. Participates in special bank projects. Attends meetings and educational seminars as requested. May be asked to participate in community events.

17. All other duties as assigned to ensure the highest level of customer service within the branch system.

RELATIONSHIPS

1. Will have extensive contact with customers, the public and the community, and is to conduct relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank.

2. Will be called upon from time to time to participate with community organizations and in community projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate
  • Progressively responsible and current banking experience required.
  • Proven ability to provide customer service at a superior level
  • Experience in selling and cross-selling products and services
  • Must have proven and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to engage with customers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is calm under pressure
  • Strong written, verbal and telephone communication skills
  • Professionalism, commitment to punctuality and attendance
  • Initiative and desire to help resolve problems for customers
  • Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multitask, able to meet deadlines and is accurate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $22.50 per hour
