POSITION SUMMARY


The ideal candidate for the role of Director of Sales and Business Development for Step2 Custom is a business leader that views opportunities as an entrepreneur, is technical and process oriented and who enjoys driving success in a collaborative, matrix organization. The ideal candidate must be able to lead growth of the Step2 Custom business to achieve financial objectives by introducing new customers while supporting relationships with existing customers. The candidate must excel at setting customer expectations with agreements, schedules and specifications in order to meet or exceed customer requirements. The candidate must be experienced in establishing and executing a defined strategy. The Director of Sales and Business Development will report directly to the President of Step2.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive growth in Step2 Custom through a commercial strategy that leverages and expands internal capabilities.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from start to finish utilizing internal workflows for successful on-boarding.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills along with excellent written and verbal communications skills that result in ability to articulate the distinct aspects of services offered by Step2 Custom.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets.
  • Create and communicate sales goals and ensure C-level executives are informed on the progress of those goals.
  • Build and maintain long-lasting, strong relationships with customers while partnering with them to better understand their business objectives and needs.
  • Understand industry-specific trends, capabilities and opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate value proposition of Step2 Custom through presentations and proposals.
  • Provide direction to assigned outside sales and manufacturer representatives
  • Interface with all customers and prospective customers as the commercial leader of Step2 Custom
  • Ensure client satisfaction by maintaining effective communications through the business development process
  • Lead and participate in demand planning to insure adequate machine scheduling and product inventory
  • Create and communicate sales goals and ensure C-level executives are informed on the progress of those goals.
  • Facilitate improved business processes to support growth of Step2 Custom.
  • Drive a culture that actively engages employees to improve and expand our contract manufacturing capabilities
  • Continuously monitor relevant metrics of existing contract manufacturing customers
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • 10 or more year’s progressive experience in a manufacturing environment or other related work field
  • Business Development and Sales experience is a must (Experience in Contract Manufacturing is preferred. Experience in Plastics manufacturing would be beneficial.)
  • Position requires minimum 50% travel
  • Ability to read and understand design and manufacturing drawings
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to make presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Strong organizational, project management, interpersonal, team leadership and problem-solving skills
  • High level of independence; taking ownership of projects; budgeting; work planning and resource management
  • Ability to think critically and challenge the status quo, while problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient to expert level computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) emphasis on Excel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Project Management tools and methodologies, Oracle Experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position will perform most job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, telephone, printer, etc. are essential.
