Director, Business Development – Job Overview:
The primary responsibility of a Director, Business Development is to generate new business through diligent prospecting and proactive sales activities, while developing and supporting Business Development team members. In addition to the sales focus the VP of Business Development will work with the operations and leadership team to identify, develop and refine additional logistics solutions to drive future value for customer and prospects alike. Success in this role will be achieved through the identification of qualified prospects and building relationships with potential new customers, while coaching and managing others to do the same. This role requires prospecting, cold calling, in person meetings, marketing campaigns, training and development, mentoring and disciplined follow up to show the value of partnering with Why Logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Coach and manage a team of 3-5 logistics sales individuals
- Prospect and solicit new customers through multiple channels of communication
- Maintain regular contact and identify additional service needs of your existing customers
- Improve existing service solutions and develop additional offerings and specialized solution programs.
- Coordinate and oversee all communication with prospects
- Work with the operations team to identify solutions for prospects
- Develop a deeper level understanding of our customer’s businesses
- Effectively explain the company approach, our differentiation factors and how we create value
- Master the ability to sell and market yourself and our company
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency
- Maintain and update accurate information in the company's CRM System
- Complete weekly activity reports and update opportunities as their status changes
Qualifications:
- 5-7 year(s) work of Logistics Sales experience
- 1-3 years(s) managing a Logistics Sales team
- Transportation Management System (TMS) experience required
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office required
- Advanced working knowledge of a CRM application
- Goal oriented with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Attention to detail and ability to learn and absorb material quickly
- Team player who can also produce independent results
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
