Primary Function
As the Applications Engineer, you will support customers (internal & external) with product knowledge, application information and training. Provide technical and analytical support for Customers, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Technical Service. Provide product support for assigned products post product launch. Support pre-sales technical needs and recommend product/service solutions to meet these needs.
Responsibilities
- Act as the point of contact for Sales and Customer Service for technical questions that cannot be answered with existing materials
- Analyze custom job trends and provide summaries to Product Management and Sales.
- Assist customers and sales team with code Inspector issues. Provide letters and documentation to support product installations.
- Assist customers and sales team with questions regarding Building Codes and their application to products.
- Collect customer needs and market requirements from internal and external sources (customers, prospects, sales personnel, etc.), assist product management with product refinements/requirements and needs.
- Convey concepts and theory to customers, provide technical, application support, and sales coordination support as required.
- Create and maintain product presentations. Give presentations to both internal and external parties on current and future products.
- Develop and maintain content for existing products and company collateral material.
- Identify and articulate to the sales force the company’s distinctive competence and the product line’s unique advantages.
- Inform and train Customer Service on products and requirements affecting the order entry process
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Manage custom job designs, quotations, piping, venting, and wiring.
- Manage the marketing mix post-launch. Perform product life cycle management to maximize product line profitability.
- Manages inquiries related to pre-sales product technical support for Customers, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Technical Service.
- Move custom product requests through the design, quoting, and release processes while meeting customer expectations for timeline.
- Provide application and product support to sales representatives, engineers and contractors as applies to the integration of water heating, hydronic and pool heating systems.
- Provide Sales with extensive product information, competitive information, and appropriate training
- Publish regular product update documents and technical communication as related to new functionalities and other high-priority product issues.
- Responds to inquiries related to pre-sales product technical support for Customers, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Technical Service.
- Support trade shows and other company-sponsored events.
- Work closely with the Sales team to develop sales tools and training programs.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferably in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a technical field,
- Minimum 3 years work experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently, work independently and collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
