The Account Executive position is part of the Employee Benefits team at Daniel and Henry. This role is responsible for managing an established book of business with current clients, and supporting producers in developing new business. The position requires the ability to independently plan and manage workload and collaborate with other team members to complete projects.
The duties of this position include:
1) Directing the Employee Benefits insurance renewal and marketing process for clients and prospects.
- Guiding the support staff personnel in the department to prepare RFPs and obtain proposals for benefits from insurance carriers.
- Analyzing proposals, developing recommendations, and negotiating final terms with insurance carrier representatives.
- Overseeing support staff in the preparation of presentations for delivery to clients.
- Meeting with clients to deliver presentations of policy renewals or proposals, and lead the discussion as the subject matter expert. Client meetings may occur in-person and/or virtually.
- Organizing and leading employee-facing open enrollment meetings.
- Managing the implementation of new insurance carriers for clients, ensuring policies are accurate and verifying client benefits plans are active on a timely basis and covering the correct employees and dependents.
2) Providing ongoing customer service for clients including:
- Working with D&H Support Staff and/or insurance carrier representatives to answer coverage questions from clients and their employees.
- Researching complex questions on various subjects from clients, including regulatory compliance issues.
- Obtaining claims data reports from carriers, analyzing the data, and supplying this information along with insights to clients on a regular basis.
- Conducting quarterly or mid-year meetings with clients as needed.
3) Building and sustaining relationships with insurance carrier representatives through informational meetings and seminars.
4) Maintaining recordkeeping and files for clients in the agency management system - Applied Systems Epic
Some features of this position include flexible working hours, a hybrid office/partial remote work structure, professional training and development opportunities, and a newly remodeled office in a convenient metro location in St. Louis.
This position does not have a sales requirement. The compensation includes a base salary and an incentive based on the size of the book of business that is managed.
Successful individuals in this role will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, are problem solvers and detail-oriented, have the ability to multi-task, and experience with Self-Funded employer medical plans is preferred but not required. An insurance license in Life and Health is required.
