The Business Development Specialist supports the Credit Union's goals, values and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality member service, and commitment. As a member of the Credit Union's marketing team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork, and adaptability.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for building and fostering relationships with contacts at existing and potential business partners, in order to increase membership, product, and service penetration within partner companies and organizations.
- Maintains regular communication with business partners through monthly email newsletter, phone calls, direct mail, email, monthly luncheons, and other methods as applicable.
- Develops and maintains a network of auto dealers within the field of membership to promote the auto loan programAssists Branch Managers as needed on visits and supplies for dealer contacts.
- Maintains inventory of current membership and promotional materials and distributes to business partners as needed/requested.
- Seeks, schedules, coordinates, and conducts onsite visits and member sign-ups, booths at benefit fairs and trade shows, and other opportunities to promote the credit union.
- Promotes credit union products and services as an employee benefit to potential business partners.
- Maintains business partner contact list to ensure all information is accurate and current. Monitors and tracks outreach activity and uses established calendar, reporting, and tracking systems to share results with management.
- Creates a positive public image for the credit union as an ambassador-at-large in the community, attending functions, networking, volunteering, and coordinating credit union community and charitable event participation.
- Develops and delivers educational seminars and presentations for delivery to existing and prospective business partners and their employees, business organizations, and credit union employees.
- Maintains regular contact with branch managers and staff regarding current marketing, business development, and community initiatives through branch visits, intranet updates, email, phone calls, and other methods of communication as applicable.
Experience - Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education - (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills -Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication
Other Skills - Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, both verbally and in writing; creativity; ability to work in and promote a team environment. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MacOS. Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
