Eye Care Center of North Jersey is seeking a motivated, eager to learn, and friendly candidate to join our dynamic team as a Frame and Lens Stylist / Optical Sales Associate in our Scotch Plains, New Jersey office. Optical experience is preferred. Candidates will be expected to work approximately 25-35 hours/week. Shift hours vary Monday through Friday between 8:30am to 7:00pm.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with frame & lens selection
• Clean frames after a frame select(s) is completed before placing back on the board
• Proactively manage frame displays and merchandising
• Effectively manage patient flow for patients requesting repairs and adjustments with opticians
• Successfully implement sales materials and leverage on a daily basis
• Assist in tracking patient orders to ensure successful completion and communication to the patient in 2 weeks or under
• Notify patients same business day when their eyewear is completed
• Maintain general appearance of dispensary
• Prepare for the day

Clean counters and desks. Turn on computers and have inventory tracker list available for use. Track job list of current jobs in process. Make sure all jobs are on track and in process. Inform patients of any delays in their orders before their 2 week wait period has expired

• Customer Service – Sales

Greet patients as they enter, or when the Doctor pages. Have understanding of insurance benefits. Ask lifestyle questions, fulfill with the best options to suit patient’s needs, sell multiple pairs, give patient a timeframe of expected arrival of their eyewear, collect money, and bill insurance

• Frame Board Management

Manage Optical floor and rearrange frame board when necessary, make sure inventory is visually presentable and sorted by brand and aligned by color. Keep frames tidy and clean on a regular basis

• Customer Service – Misc.

Answer phones, greet patients, bill insurance, make appointments, make follow up calls on glasses, handle returns and credits, knowledge and education for staff, develop and foster vendor relationship

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school education or equivalent required
• Good organizational and record keeping skills
• Optometry experience is preferred.
• Technologically literate with strong computer skills
• Friendly, cheerful presence and people skills
• Self-starter who can work independently
• Ability to follow directions
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience with EMR software required
