Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking a Director of Business Development to join our executive management team in Plymouth, MN. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader and strategic thought partner who will lead the company in the refinement, design, and integration of organization-wide, cross-team systems and processes.
Responsibilities Include:
- Monitor day-to-day business activities, investigate challenges, and implement solutions to assure smooth operations.
- Confers with Owners concerning the Company’s objectives, policy plans, and performance, as necessary to drive the company’s operating capabilities to surpass customer satisfaction, retention, and company goals.
- Studies organization and/or operational concepts and analyze, refine, and implement processes to maximize efficiency, safety, and staff productivity.
- Look for expansion opportunities, new customers, markets, and industry developments. Take advantage of possible opportunities that can occur to advance the company and evaluate acquisition/merger opportunities.
- Approves changes in any of the Company’s operating policies and review merit pay increase recommendations, and exceptional employee disciplinary matters.
- Facilitate/Lead strategic planning. Set and drive company vision, operational strategy, hiring needs, budget management, and financial reports.
- Provide leadership, through partnership and support to employees ensuring that all organizational systems, policies, and practices are documented, followed, and reflect the company's core values. Create a scalable framework to measure and monitor outcomes that rapidly evolve the team into a performance-based culture.
- Maintain “higher level” relationships with suppliers and customers. Negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to assure budgets and inventory needs are met. Manage agreements with external partners both suppliers and customers.
Qualifications:
- Requires education and/or experience equivalent to a four-year degree in Business Administration, or a related field. Requires ten years of executive management work experience plus five years of experience in middle management and in department management.
- Interpersonal skills to guide employees and work with the Owners. High EQ level and ability to work with a variety of personality types.
- Decision-making skills such as cutting costs and expanding company business. Has the ability to think quickly, analytically, strategically, and accurately.
- Written and verbal communication to get points across to a variety of people in the business and clients. Shows expert relationship, influencing, listening, and communications skills and champions inclusion mindset, and is proactive, positive, professional, flexible, and resilient.
- Strong background in a senior leadership role with experience in contract and budget management, customer service, people development, negotiations, etc.
- Able to identify gaps, opportunities, and strengths within an organization’s infrastructure, and to provide innovative strategies to improve processes and systems.
- Has a proven track record of growing a business and leading cross-functional teams, along with excellent business and financial acumen.
- Industry and/or Distribution Experience Preferred.
