Position: Catering and Event Sales Manager (Exempt employee)
Department: Sales
Reports to: Director of Sales and Marketing
Purpose of the position:
Responsible for implementing a strong presence in the local community to attract business to the hotel. The primary goal will be to solicit, book and detail catering and events business from various market segments to achieve hotel revenue goals. The ideal candidate will understand how to adjust strategy to maximize profit and be enthusiastic about providing exceptional service to each client, guest, and associate within the hotel.
Essential Job Functions:
Respond to incoming event requests and RFPs based on hotels sales strategy and follow up with customers on status of proposal
Work with sales team to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals
Serve on-site group & catering customers in a proactive manner working with the logistics of group room reservations, food and beverage, public meeting space, and billing processes.
Must focus on customer satisfaction indicated through post-event guest scores.
Maintain & log all client communications in sales CRM.
Responsible for accuracy and organization of client and internal files per hotel guidelines.
Lead weekly BEO Meetings and distribution of supporting documents.
Work closely with the other Managers and hourly associates to ensure client satisfaction.
Generate thank you notes to clients with prompt follow up of client feedback as necessary.
Responsible for prompt handling (within the business day) of inquiry calls and monitoring the efficient flow of paperwork relative to confirming function details to the client.
Is accountable for own booking goal and overall team banquet revenue.
Conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations.
Resourceful skills to provide contemporary set-ups, menus, and functions for groups.
Work closely with banquet department on operations and event execution, ability to consistently deliver flawless events.
Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of operations. Oversee execution of all banquet event orders.
Oversee that group catering and events are accurately billed and closed in a timely manner.
Skills and Abilities:
- 4-year College Degree, or equivalent related experience.
Aptitude for technology and web-based learning.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Willing to travel and must possess a valid drivers license.
- Must be able to move a minimum of 20 pounds up to 5 feet high without the aid of another person
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in sales or business development within the catering or hospitality industry
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in CRM software is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field is preferred
