Job Description: Manufacturing Field Engineer (Sales Emphasis) at Quality Tool

Quality Tool, a leading custom sheet metal fabricator specializing in enclosures and metal components, as well as metal stamping, CNC machining, and power bus bars, is seeking a motivated and skilled Manufacturing Field Engineer with a strong emphasis on sales. As a Manufacturing Field Engineer, you will be a key member of our sales team, responsible for driving business growth through technical expertise and exceptional customer service.

QT Field Engineers are technical support engineers that assist the sales force, marketing and production with identifying opportunities to apply existing and cutting edge technologies that solve customer application problems and develop new opportunities. The FE will be working directly with their targeted accounts, acting in the capacity of engineering technical liaison between QT and the customer engineering staff and NPI sourcing teams.

Key Responsibilities and Objectives:

1. Utilize your deep understanding of the manufacturing processes, sheet metal fabrication techniques, CNC machining, and metal stamping to effectively communicate and promote our capabilities to potential customers.

2. Work as a member of the QT business development team to develop customers.

3. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers R & D and NPI sourcing teams.

4. Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their specific requirements.

5. Act as a trusted advisor, providing insights, technical support, and assistance throughout the entire sales process.

6. Collaborate with the sales team, estimating, and engineering departments to prepare accurate and competitive quotes and proposals for customers.

7. Generate a project pipeline and drive conversion.

8. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and competitor activities. Provide feedback to the management team regarding potential technology and process improvements to enhance our competitive position in the market.

9. Collaborate with the internal engineering and production teams to ensure the successful execution of projects. Monitor project timelines and ensure that customer requirements are met.

10. Act as a technical resource for customers, offering guidance on design for manufacturing-ability, material selection, and manufacturing feasibility.

Requirements:

1. Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

2. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a technical sales or field engineering role within the manufacturing industry, preferably in sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, or metal stamping.

3. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, CNC machining, and metal stamping techniques. Familiarity with power bus bars and their applications is a plus.

4. Computing Skills and CAD: Working knowledge of Solid Works (or equivalent) and 3D Design. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to develop presentations (i.e. Power Point). Familiarity with Dozuki or other knowledge based systems.

5. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve technical and logistical challenges during the sales process. A proactive and solution-oriented mindset is crucial.

6. Team Player: Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with internal teams, including engineering, production, and sales.

7. Travel: Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and industry events.

* This position is an in-person role at the St. Paul office.
