SUMMARY:
The General Insurance Associate position is designed to be part of a rotational learning program involving various support, service, general business, and project tasks that focus on positively impacting the Agencys business, as well as creating an environment of developmental learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The General Insurance Associate will participate in a flexible pathway learning program, focusing on developing the skills needed for a potential sales production or service role within the agency, focusing on Commercial Lines within the first 90 days
- The General Insurance Associate focus will consist of rotations in various departments with job duties focusing on account management functions, organizational support, sales functions, and other skills, depending on the needs of the agency; the progression of job duties will be fluid but focused on the achievement of specific departmental goals as agreed upon by the employee and departmental supervisor
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive training manual for each rotational position, including source documents, to demonstrate acquired knowledge and understanding
- Provide prompt, courteous, knowledgeable service to customers and prospects
- Process endorsements and certificates, as well as invoice all transactions as per instructions from the Account Manager; process change confirmations
- Assist each department in processing new and renewal business, as requested, through application assembly, setting up files, assembling proposals, etc., by Agency standards
- Support each department with special insurance-related projects as needed
- Maintain client files on appropriate systems
- Participate, at hire, in Incite online producer training over six months
- Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development
- Provide team leadership skills for Account Executives, Senior Account Managers, and Account Managers and assist in the Mentoring program established by the Department Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Good PC skills, with a focus with a focus on the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) with a developing understanding of automated agency management systems
- Self-starter, imaginative, analytical, and creative
- Ability to acquire knowledge for, study, and pass the insurance licensing exam and meet continuing education requirements
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment
- Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed
- Regular and punctual attendance is required
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers, across all levels
- Ability to promote, and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and the Agency
- Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree program (completed or in process) preferred
- Previous business or administration experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:
- Fast-paced, multi-tasking, office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities
- Ability to perform approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible force frequently
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display
