SUMMARY:
The Internal Applications Engineering position embodies many aspects of the technical side of sales, service in support of PEIs fiscal objectives. Functions include working within the engineering, quality and manufacturing efforts of our customers and our internal resources. The role will find the incumbent providing telephone and e-mail technical support to both external and internal customers. You will be expected to promote/develop PEI Proprietary solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and manufacturability. You will be expected to establish and maintain strong relationships with both customers as well as all departments throughout PEI Genesis.
*Previous experience working in the connector and/or cable assembly industry is highly preferred*
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- extensive work experience is also acceptable
- 3+ years of experience with cable assemblies and/or interconnect solutions
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to assess a customers needs/desires and provide the most cost effective and manufacturable solution available.
- Experience reading and understanding technical drawings, quality requirements and component specifications.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and customer communication skills
- Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Self-Motivated, desire to drive results and willing to take initiative
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Preferred/Desired:
- 2+ years of Internal Applications experience
- Experience with explosion proof and fiber optic connectors and/or cable assemblies
TECHNICAL and/or MANAGERIAL JOB COMPETENCIES:
- Proficient at presenting and demonstrating PEIs products and capabilities to customers and the PEI sales team
- Proficient at evaluating a customers application, finding an ESG solution utilizing our inventory/capabilities that meets the customer requirements
- Proficient at searching ASW to find a solution using current PEI inventory
- Proficient at research of industry standards, component specifications and safety approvals/agency information
- Provide clear and accurate information/details
- Proficient at supporting the Sales team with application and/or technical support for key connector and/or proprietary product customers
- Complete understanding of the IAEs role and how it fits into the sales process
- Ability to quickly learn products, processes, and technically complex systems
- Proficient Organizational & Task Management skills
- Able to work with MS Office software and the PEI computer system (to include NetSuite, ASW and various engineering access systems)
- High level of communications skills both verbal and written
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide application support for the North American sales group. Advise customers and sales representatives on the correct product for their application including product selection, technical support, and application support.
- Promote/develop PEI Proprietary solutions that meets or exceeds customer expectations for quality and manufacturability in support of PEIs fiscal objectives
- Support internal and external sales and support staff on new and existing product lines carried by PEI
- Coordinate with suppliers on technical inquiries from PEI customers. Also work with suppliers to develop/identify products that meet the needs of PEIs customers
- Interface between PEIs customers and the product/ engineering groups. Work with other groups within PEI to ensure successful solution offering.
- Support launches of new product lines, new products developed by PEI, and new custom capabilities offered by PEI.
- Build strong relationships with both our customers and our sales team to be viewed as their trusted technical advisor for interconnect solutions.
