Full description of the position

Primary Responsibility: The Vision Applications Engineer will play a critical role in growing the installed base and sales of Maxcess Vision Systems by performing pre-sale application feasibility studies on customers material samples and specifying the correct vision inspection solution; providing project management direction throughout the system design, build, and final test; and ensuring the success of installed systems with timely and effective customer support. This role includes direct interactions with customers, sales, technical support, R&D, operations/manufacturing, and vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops a broad technical and application knowledge of Maxcess Vision products, including surface inspection systems and software.
• Performs application feasibility and creates evaluation reports for prospective customers.
• Conducts pre-sale site surveys at customer facilities to inform the design of the final system and to ensure trouble free installation, integration, and commissioning.
• Conducts product demonstrations for prospective customers via video conference and in person at customer sites and trade shows.
• Specifies the Maxcess Vision solution that best satisfies the requirements of the customers application.
• Provides expertise in the integration of Maxcess products with devices such as PLCs and other types of controllers.
• Maintains and continuously updates project information in Salesforce.
• Reviews system design drawings and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Provides project management support through system design, build, and final test.
• Provides 2nd tier post-sale customer support, troubleshooting issues and providing resolutions to customer problems.
• Delivers technical training to Maxcess sales, technical support, and end customers.
• Provides feedback to Product Management, R&D, and Operations on how to improve Maxcess Vision products and processes.
• Provides intelligence to Product Management and sales when communicating with or visiting customers to help Maxcess win.

Education/Experience:

• 4-year technical degree in mechanical, electrical, or optical engineering and/or computer science.
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems used in industrial automation.
• Self-directed, with ability to independently prioritize between multiple projects.
• Organized and detail-oriented, and accountable to meet project deadlines.
• Experience working with 2D CAD design software.
• Professional interactions with customers.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

• Practical experience in machine vision and/or lighting and optics.
• Familiarity with rules-based and AI/machine learning-based vision software tools for inspection, pattern recognition, and measurement.
• Experience in the automation industry, particularly in material handling and converting for continuous web materials.
• Intermediate skills in mechanical design using CAD software.
• Experience in root-cause analysis and identifying corrective actions.
• Ability to evaluate cost /benefit tradeoffs as they relate to design.

Physical Requirements

• Position located in Oklahoma City, OK. Location in Greenville, WI will be considered for the right candidate (though regular travel to Oklahoma City will be required).
• Ability to travel to customer sites (domestic) 25-30% of the time, with the ability to travel on short notice if needed (e.g., 1 week).
• Must be able to wear prescribed personal protective equipment safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
• Work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment noise, dust, odors
• Sit/stand/walk 8-10 hours a day
• Be able to lift up to 35 pounds
