General Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic programs that directly support the IDI Operations Business Strategy. This position will partner with the National Sales Leader and IDI Operations Leadership to increase sales and deliver operational improvements for the sales practice. This position will establish collaborative partnerships with key business partners to drive sales growth and deliver project support.Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and direct strategic initiatives that directly support the business strategy
- Leverage reports and other materials as needed, including researching any issues, analyzing the data and resolving discrepancies; provide complete and insightful analysis and recommendations to guide management decisions
- Work effectively/collaboratively with other functional partners on various projects and business needs, regularly playing a primary role in driving project implementation.
- Foster a team environment to include on-going communication and partnership between internal partners and the field to achieve National Practice objectives
- Evaluate and provide regular candid feedback to direct reports on performance, and assist in creating meaningful performance plans that develop the team to their fullest potential.
- Accountable for leading the organization through the demonstration of a broad decision making and proactive approach to business challenges facing the team and department.
- Establish strong partnerships with the cross functional management teams
- Establish strong relationships and partner to develop plans with external partners to facilitate growth objectives for both organizations.
- Drive and support selected sales and marketing programs as well as field training related to the sales strategy
- Ensure team meets required standards for quotes and proposals; monitor and make adjustments to provide partners with high quality, consistent and predictable delivery.
- Collaborate with business partners to drive business efficiency in the quote and proposals process, facilitate a feedback/adjustment model, develop and implement strategic initiatives that improve productivity, operational efficiency, quality and consistency in overall rate delivery.
- Demonstrate alignment of shared objectives and partnership/ advocacy for field offices by setting a pace and appropriate tone of urgency as well as a desire to win.
- Effectively supports and aligns their team to the appropriate field partner, office, region based on needs and to ensure cohesive, strong, and successful partnerships.
- Effectively manages the team toward executing on the defined Sales Support model ensuring consistency in the manner EBRs receive home office support.
- Achieve a high level of personal credibility with Sales and Underwriting teams Market Development and Brokers.
Job Specifications
- Four-year degree, with preference to 3-5 years of increasing responsibility of management experience in a high production/high transaction operation.
- Strong knowledge of the insurance business, Unums product offerings, corresponding workflow processes, risk concepts and service model offerings.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and demonstrated ability to leverage risk assessment to make effective decisions.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain an effective network of business partnerships to leverage optimal outcomes.
- Ability to fluidly operate and guide teams in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to think strategically and act tactically.
- Demonstrated ability to have command and control over operational metrics/indicators/trends, and the ability to take action to deliver key business objectives.
- Seasoned leadership skills with a proven ability to develop strong team engagement.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, persuasion, communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal.
- Understanding of the external market.
- Position may require travel as needed.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,900.00-$161,800.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
