The Company:
Asheville Mica Company, established in 1899, manufactures and imports mica materials and similar components for various industries. We have an established customer base that includes Fortune 500 corporations. We serve clients worldwide with the principal concentration in North America. We are currently expanding to meet rapid growth expectations and domestic production of thermal and dielectric parts to support the evolving EV, Hybrid, and Battery Energy Storage markets. We have recently expanded our manufacturing capabilities by adding a new facility to accommodate our growth.
Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled technical sales professional to expand and nurture our customer base. The ideal candidate should possess expertise and familiarity with one of the following industries: automotive, engineered products, or manufacturing. The role will be based at our office in City Center Newport News, VA.
This highly visible position requires an individual who can think creatively and is not afraid to confront and resolve critical issues personally and in a collaborative environment. This position will be perfect for a person who has mastered these skills, has the drive, and an excellent work ethic. Ours is a growing company that is currently working with clients on the forefront of technology including EV, BESS, Defense, and Aerospace applications.
Position Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the engineering team to achieve established sales targets for a specific portfolio of customers and prospects.
Develop an in-depth understanding of our engineered products and guide the evolution of next-gen solutions.
Identify and address the unique needs and challenges of individual customers and prospects within the industry. Often the company is asked for a solution that requires new materials or processes.
Provide appropriate technical solutions in response to requests for quotations and other customer inquiries. We often work collaboratively with both the potential customer and a supplier of an additional material or converter/production partner. The ability to manage complex relationships and maintain attention to details and follow-up are mission critical.
Supervise pricing strategies and effectively manage margins for a dedicated customer base and/or product line.
Become a market and product specialist with the ability to speak on trends at a product/technology level and contribute to the formulation of a cohesive business development strategy.
The frequency of travel is variable and currently nominal. Larger projects may have higher demands for travel.
Follow up on all assigned leads plus developing and working with various platforms to identify potential opportunities with both existing and new customers.
Strategize on and attend trade shows and other related events typically 3-5 a year.
Experience with PPAPs and FAIs and QC processes, and ISO is a plus.
Skills and Experience:
- Engineering degree or strong experience / practical background - Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical focused preferred.
- Over 5 years of experience in B2B/industrial products and technical solutions sales
- Demonstrated success in growing business within a specific region or for a particular product/division.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and independent with a keen eye for detail, problem-solving abilities, and analytical skills.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of non-disclosure agreements, client contracts, and other B2B legal processes.
- Proficiency in CAD, ERP and CRM systems, as well as MS Office. We leverage Oracle Netsuite, Salesforce and ZoomInfo internally.
