The Sales Specialist markets by phone, text, email, direct postal mail and other approved methods of contact to get new funeral and crematory customers. The Sales Specialist will adhere to excellent service standards to maintain the highest customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Represents funeral products and services with a comprehensive understanding of how products are used in the funeral services and providing solutions to customers.
- Achieves monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas through successful implementation of sales and marketing strategies.
- Meets weekly quota of new customer accounts.
- Routinely makes cold calls, sends texts and emails, directs postal mailings, and approves samples to get new funeral home and crematory customers.
- Provides support to location leaders including but not limited to: taking and processing orders, preparing and sending correspondence and marketing materials, ordering and managing inventory, verifying website accuracy, and ensuring customer needs are fulfilled on a daily and weekly basis including the potential to operate up to a 26 box truck to make deliveries.
- Accurately collects and records customer data into CRM.
- Collaborates with location leaders on the delivery of samples.
- Attends funeral conventions and events as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Demonstrates excellence in technological skills required to perform responsibilities (including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.) and engages in continuing education to maintain this competence.
- Mathematical Skills - above average mathematical skills are needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma/GED with additional relevant formal education or equivalent experience is required.
- Formal education or equivalent experience in sales, marketing, management, or business is preferred.
- Previous experience in the funeral services a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Has the ability to read, comprehend and write the English language.
- Possesses exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend and write in the Spanish language is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend and twist for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs., and otherwise maneuver product weighing up to 200 lbs. using proper provided equipment (forklift, pallet jack, casket jockey) to successfully manage inventory and load trucks (upon completion of forklift training and certification program).
- Demonstrates ability to travel for sales calls, conventions, training and/or to support other locations during times of vacation/need up to 75% of the time.
