Job Title: Sales Engineer

Volkmann is a world leading bulk powder handling systems and machinery manufacturer. As part of our US team, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for sales of Volkmann industrial systems in a U.S. territory as defined by management, meeting Volkmann sales goals and objectives. Business is developed by working directly with clients and with third-party outside sales representatives.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Search for, identify, and contact potential customers in the assigned sales territory
- Work closely with third-party outside sales representatives to contact and develop new sales opportunities and maintain relationships with key existing customers and accounts
- Design and develop engineered systems solutions based on customer requirements
- Prepare detailed sales proposals and pricing calculations
- Present and review proposals with customers and optimize based on client feedback
- Close sales for systems and equipment to meet territory sales targets
- Periodically travel within the sales territory to perform sales visits to customer sites with outside sales representatives
- Provide training and support for outside sales representatives within the assigned sales territory
- Perform after-sales follow-up to confirm proper equipment operation and record customer feedback
- Develop and maintain in-depth technical knowledge of Volkmann systems, equipment, and services
- Actively gather market information and monitor competitive landscape
- Identify areas for product improvements or new product development
Professional Qualifications
- A minimum of 3-5 years technical B2B sales experience with proven sales success
- Experience selling powder handling equipment and/or process machinery
- Willingness and ability to travel approx. 25% of the time within North America
- Ability to communicate and connect with customer employees from upper management to operations and maintenance personnel
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written presentation and communication skills.
- Hands-on, motivated, and self-assured with customer-centered attitude
- Ability to think strategically and prioritize sales and business development activities in the assigned region
Education and Skills Requirements
- BS in Engineering or equivalent
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficient with the use of sales CRM systems
