If so, then come be a part of an organization that has a solid history and a growing future work for Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC). We are seeking a full-time Director of Product Programs to direct and oversee the Girl Scout Cookie Program and Fall Products Program.

Summary of Position: The Director of Product Programs is responsible for the direction and oversight of the Girl Scout Cookie Program and Fall Products Program for the Council. The Director will ensure that the Girl Scout Cookie Program is marketed to girls, parents, volunteers and the public as the flagship program of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience [GSLE] with emphasis on the 5 Skills. The Director will oversee staff and volunteers and work with vendors to ensure that all facets of Product Programs work together to meet the Council goals for girl outcomes and revenue generation.

Major Accountabilities:

Set business and program goals in conjunction with strategic priorities, marketing strategy and budgetary needs.

Collect and analyze data to both measure program outcomes, and to guide decision making with respect to budgets and resources. Develop an annual plan of work to drive program participation, girl outcomes, and improve the experience for volunteers.

Cultivate strong relationships with all vendor partners, including GSUSA. Negotiate vendor contracts for optimal price/service/selection.

Design and implement training that will support the Product Programs through on-going learning for girls, adult volunteers and staff.

Facilitate product program advisory team of core volunteers to share their knowledge and expertise around fall product and cookie programs. Working with the team, develop and implement recognition structures that involve girl and volunteer input, with an emphasis on budget, appropriateness and in keeping with guidelines from GSUSA.

Coach and supervise Product Program Manager and Product Program Analyst, as well as other seasonal staff and volunteers.

Work with the Marketing Department to develop and implement a marketing plan for both internal and external customers.

Form and manage project teams for the development and execution of 4 major Product Program events within the designated event budget. Events currently include a kickoff and reward event for each of cookies and fall program.

Collaborate with other departments on girl programs, to review business practices to ensure they provide a positive experience for the internal and external customers, and ensure effective and safe execution of the council cookie booth sale and troop process.

Manage the development and implementation of strategies to manage logistical issues involved with the management of products. Ensure sufficient inventory and timely delivery to Troops and cupboards.

Our Director of Product Programs will have excellent "storytelling" skills with the ability to craft insights into clear communications designed for diverse audiences. The successful candidate will also have successful experience driving teamwork, motivating individuals to achieve common goals, navigating difficult problems, and making decisions that balance the needs of the customer with organizational policies.

Essential Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing, finance, or related field, and at least 5 years of progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience a related field.
  • Fluency in more than one language a plus
  • Excellent organization, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; familiarity with current social media tools; comfortable working with multiple sources of information to complete analysis; experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Ability to provide an exceptionally positive experience for all within and outside of the Girl Scout Community
  • Expertise in building and implementing strategies to increase product sales a plus
  • Superior analytical and financial skills in developing product sales forecasts, plans, and budgets a plus
  • Experience developing external vendor relationships; advanced negotiation skills a plus
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which includes frequent evenings and weekends during designated peak seasons.
  • Valid drivers license and/or reliable transportation for travel to off-site locations as necessary
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve exertion of light physical activity which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (20-25 pounds) and or standing for varying periods of time.
  • Previous Girl Scout experience a plus
