Full description of the position

For more than 70 years, Activar Plastic Products Group (APPG) has been satisfying customers' most demanding requirements with durable, precision plastic products. Our companies create customized equipment solutions for manufacturing plants, laboratories and lead the industry in plastic distribution and tight-tolerance machining.

We are currently hiring an Account Executive at our Bloomington location. Applicants must have a proven history in sales of plastics machining and/or distribution. Activar offers stability, strong leadership and resources, competitive compensation and benefits, and a positive working environment.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships as the technical liaison for our business to business sales of thermoplastic and metal distribution products, custom fabrication, machining, and turn-key systems targeting OEMs. This position will serve as the customers single point of contact; coordinates marketing programs, economic analysis, rate comparisons, and cost of operations evaluations for key accounts.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Builds relationships with key decision makers and acts as liaison and single point contact with major commercial and industrial accounts.
  • Identify and develops new business opportunities in and extend initiatives with the company.
  • Facilitate programs to gather requirements and features from customers to augment sales, product management, support, and business and technology partnerships as needed.
  • Responsible for managing and growing existing customer accounts through using effective methodologies to develop exceptional partnerships with primary contacts.
  • Communicate in a professional and effective manner with all customers and potential customers through, but not limited to, phone calls, email, mailings, and person-to-person opportunities.
  • Partner with internal functions including customer service, supply chain, and other departments to assure quality, service, price and delivery.
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations, displays and demonstration of products using samples, vendors, websites, etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of company initiatives and industry trends.
  • Adhere to and promote all company standards and policies.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by management.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose operations problems/issues.
  • Comprehension of the companys products and processes.
  • Experience with ERP/materials management processes and systems.
  • Ability for up to 25% travel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

High School diploma or GED.

5+ years of sales experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of plastics industry.

Desired:

Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing or related field.
