Director, Membership Development (Key Sales Position)

Position responsible for expanding the membership base of the Capital Region Chamber by attracting new members to the organization and increasing member engagement and retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and measure sales strategy and tactics to drive the sales process.
• Personally recruit members, as well as lead and support membership team to achieve/exceed budgeted sales goals utilizing mission-based sales strategies.
• Oversee implementation of member engagement/retention plan.
• Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with Chamber members and engaged volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, preferably business-to-business.
• Self-motivated with a passion for business, as well as impacting the greater community.
• Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prospect leads, close sales, and lead/support membership team.
• Strong degree of adaptability and flexibility to relate to a wide variety of people and projects.
• Comfortable cold-calling and meeting with business owners and C-suite executives.
• Works well independently as well as part of a larger team that includes member volunteers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and aptitude for learning Chamber database.
• Capable of handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.

Compensation: Salary $75,000 to $95,000 (with commission). Benefit package includes 401(k), health/life/LTD, and generous PTO.
