Full description of the position
The Online Sales Director will oversee and drive the HBG print and eBook sales for our largest online accounts, Amazon.com and Amazon.ca. The Director will manage a team of national account representatives, serve as the Amazon expert for our publishing and sales teams and will be responsible for sustained sales growth at this key account. Position is based in the Hachette Book Group New York offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee sales team of three people handling print and eBook sales to Amazon US and Amazon CA
- Manage and work closely with our internal Amazon team to coordinate merchandizing and title placement, devise special promotional programs and author opportunities and troubleshoot catalog and author-care issues
- Lead print and Kindle deal strategy, efforts and analysis for Kindle Unlimited
- Liaise with HBG print and digital operations teams on file and metadata issues
- Represent Amazon concerns and issues at internal sales and operations meetings
- Provide Amazon analytics and devise tools and best practices for utilizing Amazon data to identify sales opportunities
- Work on catalog integrity and improve sell-through efficiency by developing and using analytical tools and knowledge of online sales
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Amazon for the HBG IT, Operations and Publishing teams
- Responsible for internal communication around account issues and updates
- Work with our Amazon.com business partners to troubleshoot any issues
- Role is the main point of contact for Amazon business teams for US and CA. This includes joining / leading weekly calls and working with team members on follow-ups
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- 7+ years experience in publishing or online retail; experience managing national or online accounts necessary
- Extensive knowledge of publishing, online retail accounts, and online sales and marketing tools
- Experience managing a team of several employees
- Self-motivated, hands on, enthusiastic individual with exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Strong initiative and judgment and collaborative attitude
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills required

The compensation range for this position is $115,000-$130,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
