Carrier Sales Representative
Reports To: Director of Training
Location: Chicago, IL
Environment: Onsite
Status: Non-exempt; Salaried
Work Schedule:
This position is full-time and onsite Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an hour break, but flexibility is available based on coverage.

Purpose of Your Work:
As a Carrier Sales Representative, you will play a crucial role working within Redwood Multimodal (one of our business units) and our Digital Freight Brokerage by identifying, sourcing and developing strong business relationships with service providers to achieve maximum profitability and customer satisfaction.
How You Make a Difference Everyday:
Build and maintain new and current strategic carrier profiles through research and networking and aligning Redwood truckload sales opportunities
Actively engage carrier partners primarily by phone, targeting 80+ dials per day
Confidently introduce the Redwood Digital Freight Brokerage (DFB) product to carrier prospects, profiling 20 new carriers per day
Engage in continuous follow up to carriers, understanding what network offers work, which lanes are an ideal fit, and reinforcing the value proposition to the carrier partners
Build understanding of macro-market conditions and how it has an impact on truckload rates and capacity
Resolve carrier relations and accounting issues
Provide and negotiate freight rates to motor carriers (and internal sales team as needed), ensuring maximum profitability on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly basis
Coordinate available customer freight with available motor carrier equipment
Consistently provide service and support to motor carriers in an effort to build the business relationship
Maintain a file of all open truck shipments and of records of trailers in assigned areas
Communicate with motor carriers to schedule trucks and resolve issues
Verify all freight charges, confirm receipt of Bill of Lading, and resolve all payables discrepancies prior to final payment to motor carrier
Monitor Bill of Lading discrepancies to ensure proper return of commodity is arranged, as necessary
Actively seek out Redwood contract lanes, and create a dedicated capacity solution
Research, contact, and develop new carrier relationships to leverage a portfolio of carrier networks to introduce new capacity to customer sales opportunities
