Legacy Supply Chain is hiring a Sales Manager for our growing Freight Brokerage Division. As an Sales Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing the Brokerage customer base, generating sales, developing advantageous pricing strategies, as well as coaching, mentoring and managing Account Manager and Business Development Manager roles. This position includes a competitive salary and bonus plan with a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match.
Job Details: What to expect as a Sales Manager:
- Manage, Coach, mentor, hire and provide leadership to the Account Manager and Business Development Manager roles in all facets of the Transportation Brokerage business.
- Generate and identify new sales opportunities through research, analysis, and discovery.
- Develop a pipeline of new prospects and convert them to customers by securing more volume via newly contracted bids and spot market lanes and growing overall gross margin.
- Responsible for growing increasing volume, revenue, and gross margin from established and new customers.
- Assist the Account Manager role in negotiating rates and with the overall growth strategy of each customer.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships, both internally and externally.
- Ensure that appropriate sales goals are developed and achieved in accordance with the branch Revenue, Gross Margin and EBITDA goals.
- Responsible for developing the overall growth strategy of customers.
- Responsible for strategic negotiations and discussing pricing with customers for all modes of transportation, such as full truckload, less-than-truckload and intermodal shipments.
- Maintain an understanding of market conditions and data, using company and market intelligence tools to ensure accurate pricing to customers for all modes of transportation with an eye to ensure growth.
- Manage conflicts, issues, and navigate difficult conversations with customers; and assist other team members how to do the same.
- Work with the Operations and Carrier Development Team to ensure loads for customers are picked up and delivered on time.
- Partner with the Operations Manager to ensure that decisions are made in the best interest of the branch that promote cohesiveness amongst staff and overall growth of the branch.
- Work with the Operations and Carrier Development Team on market changes that affect pricing, capacity and gross margin.
- Maintain opportunities, RFPs, customer contacts and communications in CRM
- Set monthly, quarterly and yearly KPI goals based on volume, revenue and gross margin growth, for each customer.
- Motivate and engage the Account Management/Business Development Team to achieve daily, weekly and monthly goals
- Coordinate strategies for growth with AM/BDM/OPS/CDC teams for new and existing customers.
- Identify opportunities and gaps within the customers logistics and transportation needs and match up with Legacy's service offerings.
- Partner with all Legacy's Business units to support and assist in problem resolution pertaining to customer issues including but not limited to collections, pricing, and service issues.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for the supervision of the Account Managers and Business Development Roles (where applicable).
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Brokerage industry
- Sales skills and strongly customer service oriented
- Able to interface with varied customers, suppliers, carriers, and such
- Manage, coaching, training, and leadership expertise
- Strong negotiation skills, and providing rates and rate routing options
- Excellent problem-solving skills and thinking outside the box
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
- Ability to communicate with customers and peers in a professional manner (interpersonally, verbally, and in written format)
- Ability to meet timelines while maintaining accuracy levels
- Self-motivated and possess the ability to self-direct work
- Flexible in work hours and changing workload
- Able to prioritize tasks and the needs of the department
