SUMMARY: The outside sales position is responsible for developing & maintaining new business relationships. They are to assist customers with quoting, questions related to quotes and orders, developing their business, as well as giving them additional insight into the waste and recycling market. They are also responsible for developing and assisting management with new innovative ways to increase growth within the market.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop new business relationships across territory.
- Site visits to customer locations.
- Ability to speak one on one with prospects as well as give presentations to larger groups.
- Maintain an understanding of the landfilling and recycling industries, relative products, competitors, and new developments.
- Performs ongoing market analysis of the competition, their offerings, and market trends.
- Understand our value as a company and be able to convey that value to prospects.
- Understand our product offering and specifications.
- Understand barriers for growth in territory and propose corrective actions to address the barriers.
- Train customers in all things relative to the industry that can assist their business and strengthen our relationship.
- Maintain relationships with key decision makers to understand customers business strategies.
- Maintain an in-person presence in the market, visiting customers and prospects.
- Consider the market conditions of their territory, customer needs, company objectives, and their territory goals in their daily decision making and apply sound judgment in their relative decision making.
- Gather intelligence for the territory, including pricing, delivery lead time, and product specifications.
- Approximately 50%-75% travel required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of one year of proven field sales success in meeting and/or exceeding sales quotas is preferred.
- Eager to learn about the market in order to speak to customers from a place of knowledge and understanding.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and CRM systems.
- A positive attitude.
- Works well in a team environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary with commissions: $50,000-$100,000 per year
