Job Summary:
The Director of Business Development will manage Valir Rehabilitation Hospitals business development efforts and is responsible for leading the Business Development Team. This position will assist in the design of a business development system and will generate measureable growth for service lines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works with Hospital Liaisons to maximize the number of referrals from key physicians, physician organizations, hospital accounts, managed care organizations, skilled nursing facilities and other local market sources to meet hospitals census goals.
- Coordinates and maintains up-to-date information on market and competitors including pricing, census information, service line information, clinical services and sales strategies.
- Monitors census and payer mix trends. Ensures timely completion of referral to admission and census tracking and trending information. In conjunction with the Liaisons, analyzes tracking and trending data to develop and implement strategies to meet census goals.
- Develop, implement and evaluate hospitals marketing plans.
- Identifies census challenges and barriers. Assist in developing and implementing strategies to overcome census challenges and barriers.
- Identifies referral source needs and market needs. Develops and implements plans to satisfy identified needs.
- Conduct onsite assessment of referrals prior to admission when necessary. The Director of Business Development is a liaison between the hospital and its referral sources.
- Organize and arrange educational meetings for referral sources for a better working relationship.
- Assists/ leads hospitals marketing team in expanding community referrals to ensure continual referral growth.
- Communicates effectively with Liaisons and Leadership. Leads team with strong leadership skills and able to work as a lead and team-player role.
- Compiles information on the local market including referral sources, competitors and market trends.
Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete 90 day and annual reviews with all direct reports
- Have counseling and performance conversations as needed
- Review and approve timecards for payroll for all direct reports

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business or related field.
- Requires 5-10 years sales experience, with a strong track record of delivering results at (or above) plan.
- Minimum of 3 years leadership experience managing a team that produces result.
- Clinical background a plus.
- Experience prioritizing workload and respond to variability based on organizational needs.
- Must be proficient in the management skills of planning, controlling, coordinating and measuring departmental activities with skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
