Sales Manager
Job Description:
VIA, Visually Impaired Advancement is seeking a full time Sales Manager. This position is primarily responsible for account growth through the expansion of existing products and the introduction of new products and services. Under the direction of the VP of Manufacturing, Distribution and Business Development, the Sales Manager is expected to drive the strategic sales within accounts associated with New York State, the Federal Government, commercial, non-profit, municipal, and tax-exempt organizations. Position pays a base salary of $75,000 plus commission.
Essential Functions:
Identifies, develops, pursues, and captures new business for social enterprise.
Identifies and qualifies business opportunities through creation of strategic account plans and annual business plans.
Establishes new business relationships for all agency business sectors.
Maintains competitive knowledge and focus of assigned market space New York State, Federal Government and Commercial business.
Develops and enacts sales efforts for new client target account acquisitions.
Coordinates efforts to ensure execution of sales strategies geared toward protecting and growing business with existing clients.
Creates and maintains accurate and complete records, including a master list of potential customers and business opportunities.
Provides weekly/monthly activity reports, status updates and sales opportunity reports/forecasts as required.
Participates in and may conduct product integration meetings.
Participates in tradeshows and other marketing events.
Visits other agencies for people who are blind to seek sales best practices.
Hand-on involvement in Manufacturing to learn mission-centric business, agency capabilities and process for submitting new products, pricing, and price adjustments to NIB and NYSPSP.
Supports and works with VIAs management team members to identify strategic customers or prospects, with the goal of identifying new sales opportunities for products and services.
Identifies and suggests new products and/or services that could be sold to accounts based on knowledge and experience working with customers as well as an understanding of VIAs Manufacturing capabilities.
Works in close cooperation with oversight groups National Industries for the Blind and New York State Preferred Source Program to ensure alignment of strategy, actions, and good communications between their business development and sales teams.
Adapts to change and completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Must have strong working applied skills of Microsoft Suite Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Must be knowledgeable regarding sales databases and spreadsheets.
Working knowledge of laws and regulations of state and federal agencies including JWOD/AbilityOne and state use programs a plus.

Qualifications:
High school/GED
Bachelors degree and prior business development/sales/marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Occasionally lift and carry boxes of 50 pounds or more
Regularly lift and carry equipment of 15 pounds or more
Regularly stand, walk, stoop and kneel
Regularly sit for a minimum of 2 hours at a time
Regularly perform repetitive motion of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Regularly communicate at a volume able to heard by large groups
Occasionally climb & crawl
NYS drivers license and reliable transportation OR the ability to travel effectively to corresponding assignments.
In-house position with moderate travel as necessary.
Must be available for evenings or weekend agency-related functions that may be outside the agency.
