Full description of the position

Role Overview

As a senior member of the Tates Sale team at Tates Bake Shop, the Director of Customer Development & Sales Planning reports to the Tates Chief Customer Officer. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and execute proven and entrepreneurial customer focused sales strategies to deliver profitable and sustainable revenue and share growth within premium cookies.

In addition to leading the Sales Strategy and Planning team, this role supports the Tates leaders develop organization-wide priorities, influencing and shaping comprehensive commercial strategies, and developing talent capabilities all in service of meeting short-term goals and setting up multi-year strategies.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Full Accountability and Responsibility for developing strategies and programs that drive warehouse (NDSD) portfolio growth. This requires a strategic shift in elevating the role of NDSD as growth engine for Tate's. Build on foundational NDSD channel strategy and team capabilities to identify new scalable opportunities to accelerate growth in non-traditional channels.
  • Maximize Food & Mass potential in parentship with MDLZ F+M / DSD Team. Work with key MDLZ DSD Sales partners to develop a next-level commercial plan to generate outsized revenue and share growth. Identify customer and commercial opportunities, partner with MDLZ align on deployment and ensure execution. This will also include identifying the most effective ways of working to ensure a successful cycle, from commercial planning to execution.
  • Develop Commercial Excellence Capabilities and Culture for business impact. Partner with Tates CCO to evolve the Tates organization to become a high performing, agile commercial team focused on high-growth and entrepreneurship while elevating critical commercial capabilities such as sales planning, forecast accuracy, and data and analytics. This includes identifying processes, tools and training to fast-track the teams ability to excel in commercial activities to impact business performance.
  • Serve on the Tates Sales Team influencing cross-functional strategies and overseeing programs and initiatives that drive profitable growth by enabling employee engagement and a high-performance and team-oriented culture.
  • Develop, deploy and manage the annual planning process and channel strategy in line with financial targets and short and long-term business objectives and outlining clear plans to accelerate distribution and velocity.
  • Responsible for supporting sales teams delivery against growth objectives, partnering on category reviews as the category expert, leading monthly performance tracking, identifying key gap drivers and escalating action plans to sales team.
  • Act as voice of category/sales within the business; ability to create simple executive comms/presentations to effectively drive actions within the cross functional teams and stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of managerial experience
  • 5+ years CPG experience
  • Proven track record with mastery of all sales and commercial levers to drive top and bottom-line revenue performance.
  • Exceptional success in developing successful channel and customer sales strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of CPG customers, Sales process, shopper marketing, category management and trade management
  • Customer and sales planning leadership roles

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors or masters degree in business or a related field.

Role Location

  • Remote with work travel as needed (to Long Island NY, East Hanover NJ, Customer and other okey stakeholder meetings and strategic offsites).

Travel Requirements

Approximately 40-50% - travel when necessary.
