The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Business Development Account Manager located in our Rosemont, IL office responsible for working independently to support the New Business and Product Development Unit. Actively participates in the review and vetting of new organizational opportunities that support the mission and objectives of the academy. Manage small to mid-sized licensee/provider account processes that drive non-dues revenue for the Academy. Works across the organization on a variety of projects from licensing to products to partnerships. Responsible for managing individual budgets. Works with the AAD Research team to review, analyze, summarize, and present research findings. Must be able to produce high quality work on multiple projects simultaneously while effectively engaging with the appropriate staff across several different departments. This is a small unit doing important work requires a person willing to do the big and small things required to move the work and the organization forward.

- Maintain and establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned accounts. Manage small to mid-sized licensees to enable processes that drive incremental revenue from AAD-IP. Manage all aspects of the client relationship, including agreement implementation/adherence, project review/approval, royalty payments, reporting, invoicing, summaries, reports, etc. Track and forecast activity and achievement in [please apply online] Edge, maintaining accurate data around opportunities and communications. Coordinate with cross-functional teams within AAD, including marketing, communications, finance, legal, and executive office, where required to deliver a seamless experience for our licensees.
- Ensure that all projects are aligned with the AAD organizational culture, strategy, and structure. Prepare budgets based on scope of work and resource requirements for ongoing revenue targets and anticipated resource allocations for the unit. Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans for all ongoing and developing projects Actively monitor and report on progress and project costs compared to product road-maps and projected revenue/expense. Effectively and sensitively trouble-shoot barriers and challenges.
- Clearly communicate project status and updates. Produce summary reports for director and senior leadership as requested. Report on an ongoing basis to various stakeholders project progress, revisions, and adjustmentsreengage, as necessary. Ability to artfully communicate, motivate, and influence with political sensitivity.
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution. Knowledge of fundamental project management processes (knowledge of RACI, Stage-gate, SalesForce, Smartsheet, [please apply online] Razors edge, etc.), methodologies, and tools & techniques, with the ability to adapt them to the AAD organizational standards and processes. Solid understanding of stage gate development and where it can be modified and flexed without compromising quality and/or timing. Ability to earn trust and respect from project's stakeholders. Ability to influence decisions that need to be made to make the project successful.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in business, communications, public relations, or a related field. Sales experience a plus.
- Five to eight years of dedicated project and vendor management and related experience.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively utilizing exceptional interpersonal skills to manage and lead internal teams and external contacts.
- Demonstrated proficiency with project management software tools, methodologies, budget software, and other best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills and experience using excel and other spreadsheet management software packages.
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
- Requires strong organizational skills and experience in managing projects, timetables, and implementations.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills/emotional intelligence are critical as well as excellent oral and written communication skills in order to direct and manage the activities of multiple departments, and positively communicate and work with professionals at all levels of the organization.
- Creative problem-solving using research and data required. Proficiency in standard project management tools such as online Gantt charts, which provide a visual of the schedule with tasks, durations of those tasks.
- Knowledge of medical/derm practice management landscape, challenges, issues, and trends is preferred.
