Salary Range: 50,000.00 To 55,000.00 (USD) Annually (plus quarterly incentives)
Position Title: Sales Manager
Department: Sales

Reports to: Director of Sales and Marketing
Summary: The Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals in rooms and food and beverage. Strong follow up and closing skills on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site visits and written communication.
Essential Job Functions
- Prospect for new business, targets accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on accounts with significant potential sales revenue and individual property needs.
- Respond to sales leads within a timely manner and presents group correspondence according to the clients requests.
- Communicating all billing with the reservations department and ensuring correct set up.
- Ensures that sales activities are focused to yield maximum revenue per room occupied.
- Understand the overall market competitors strengths and weakness, market trends, supply and demand and knows how to sell against them.
- Meets or exceeds sales goals as assigned by the Associate Director of Sales and Marketing
- Maintains and fosters relationships with new and existing clients for repeat business.
- Negotiate, draft, generate and confirm all group sales contracts with appropriate rates and room blocks by using discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
- Uses Opera Sales + Catering system to enter and manage all groups and inquiries.
- Travel as needed for Sales calls, trade shows and conferences. Attends after-hour networking events as needed.
- Uses Opera to run reports and to enter or read data regarding a guest, billing, or group statistics, etc.
- Communicates with all departments regarding in house VIPs and any special needs and requests to ensure that the property is set up to deliver an exceptional guest experience for incoming groups.
- Tracks their own commission and bills attrition and cancellation penalties for his or her own groups.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of all Hotel Teatro outlets, amenities, and special events.
- Assists the Associate Director of Sales and Marketing and General Manager as needed.
- Develops relationships within the community to strengthen and expand client base for future opportunities.
Essential Characteristics
- Has a positive, upbeat attitude and naturally shares optimism with guests and all Associates. Able to work independently at times as well as being collaborative on team projects and department events.
- Works effectively and communicates with other departments to meet Hotel goals and strive for guest satisfaction.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: (specify whether required or preferred):
- 1 to 2 years of hotel sales experience required.
- Professional appearance and demeanor, required.
- Knowledge of Opera and Microsoft Office, preferred.
- Strong communication skills required with the ability to make excellent verbal and written presentations to large and small groups.
