LOCATION OF POSITION

POSITION DUTIES

Promote the utilization of prison made products and services to government agencies, institutions, non-profit charitable, civic educational, fraternal and religious organizations within the geographic boundaries of the State of Maryland.

1. Utilize all forms of communication to include written correspondence, telephone solicitations, electronic correspondence (email), in order to solicit/generate a pool of prospective clients.
2. Conduct ongoing personal visits/contacts with current and prospective client base weekly.
3. Follow up on products deliveries either in person or via telephone to assure satisfaction on a weekly basis or driven by the sales volume in the territory.
4. Maintain regular contact with current clients to keep them abreast of, new products, price schedules, and availability of current product. on a bi-weekly basis.
5. Schedule and conduct periodic tours of MCEs living showroom and manufacturing plants to provide personal/hands on experiences for current and prospective clients.
6. Schedule procurement appointments with purchasing agents, agency administrators, other state officials deemed appropriate to make procurement decisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years of experience in sales promotion, industrial sales or marketing research.
Notes:
1. Equivalent volunteer and/or part-time experience can be substituted for the required experience.
2. Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience at the rate of 60 credit hours.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Willing to travel, to include state wide travel for customer service visits.
2. Possession Government sector sales support experience.
3. One or more years of experience giving oral presentations on work related information to small groups (one to five people).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
